THE FIRST STEPS OF THE DAY.....

--Usually during the first five minutes of the day I try my best to keep it as simple as possible. Living in a house filled with various pets and children and a loving wife sometimes this is a tad tricky.
--But like everything else I’m finding out as I get older not impossible. Warming up a cup of coffee for my wife when she wakes is something of a joy. Because the women always greets me with a smile even if she's spent most of the night dodging hot flashes and making cat infested runs to the bathroom. How she can do it I have no idea, but it sure is nice to see so early in the morning. It gives me the added boost to put the grump’s away and try harder for a good day.
--The pets of course are a enigma and are best taken with a cup of coffee. Because even though they are fun to have around their early morning shenanigans can find what nerves that wore out and poke them to no end. But coffee sure makes it bearable to say the lest. Over the years we've reached a compromise of sorts. They let me have coffee and I’ll pet them silly afterwards.
--The children well their a different breed. Sometimes it seems as if getting a smile or to in the morning is a feat left better to superman. But we've reached a compromise of sorts to when they happen to cross my path they crank up the smile machine. Because they come to understand it's the only way to keep their long winded father from dragging out the soapbox and started in on the old day talk’s.
--It's those first steps of the day that matter I’m finding after all these years. And slowly so is everybody else. We may not be the happiest campers in the park but we sure as Sam hill give it our best shot.......
