Talking to little people...

--When it came to talking to children I tried to never fall into the trap of talking at them or down to them. I’ve always tried to explain if and when or why it was they couldn't do something, or couldn't have something or what not. Basically I talked to them like little people.
--Contrary to what people think I do remember being a child and one of the things I really hated was how people would talk down to me because I was a child.  I always said if I every had children I wouldn't do that to them.
--My children over the years have pointed out to me on a number of occasions how they appreciated the fact that I never talked down to them like the people at school . So I guess that’s all that counts....
