--Over the years I come to the conclusion that the four
little words( what do you think) are a trap in the making. Usually I take a
moment to respond. Of course being human I’ve fallen into the what do you think
trap quite a few times over the years.
--The trap itself is quite clever because you run it up the flag pole for the person thinking that they actually want your option. When actually what they want sometimes is to just hear you ramble on and on. Usually you find this out when they walk away and do the exact opposite of what in Sam hill you were talking about.
--And then there’s the other case were the person wants nothing more than to be told what to do. This in effect saves them the effort from having to make a decision. Either way when it all falls apart you end up being the blame.
--Now I don't blame them it just gets a tad tiring. Being held responsible for your own mistakes and the mistakes you made over the years is one thing. But for the mistake of advising people and giving my opinion when asked I don’t believe I should be accountable.
--As I’ve gotten older I’ve become more reserved about certain thing's and one of them is giving advice. Now I try to keep it somewhat simple. By pointing out what works for me and letting people known that everyone needs to find there own way of making thing's work. It’s probably not the best system. But it seems to be working so far.
--That’s not to say I won't lend an ear to someone who wants to chat. Because I will it's just I’m learning to be real careful about what advice I’ll offer.....
