--If there's one thing I’ve learned the hard way is weather is pretty much unpredictable.
--Oh they give it a more than fair shot with their forecast’s. And most of the time their pretty much right on the mark. But every once in awhile old mother nature likes to keep everybody on their toes.
--Of course my wife and children think I’m a goof with some of my tendency’s. Like keeping a coat in the car just in case it gets cold. Or keeping my long johns in a drawer in my desk all year long.
--If there's one thing I’ve learned just about the time you think the weather's settled down whamo here comes the curve ball…..

JUST ABOUT TIME....07/08/15
--All the signs are there. The cats who hang round the house are peeking in the porch window watching to see if their dinner is on the way. The dogs heard a cupboard door close and now are reminding us their outside.
--The children have been in the kitchen at lest a half a dozen times in the last half hour wondering around to see what’s up.
--From the looks of things apparently it's time to feed everyone again.
--The only time lately everyone finds the same page is when it's dinner time.
--Now if we could figure out how to get them on the same page for the rest of the day that would be really something.....

IT SURE GETS CONFUSING....07/19/15
--Sometimes I find myself getting a tad confused with thing’s. At first I figured it was just old age creeping up on me. Then I realized it's just the why thing's seem to be spinning lately.
--The weather's a whack a doodle gone over the edge lately. But hey what can you expect. It never really was to predictable in the first place. Oh they tried . But sometimes I thick mother nature just like's to keep us guessing.
--As far as the world. A fellow could go bald with all the head scratching going on there. If your looking for a voice of reason I don't think your going to find it on the world stage. Right now they all seem to be in mixed nut status.
--As far as the little thing's well who can figure any of that out. Rising prices, low wages, and who gut’s and has the most.
--It seems like were living in a really bad loony toons cartoon lately.
--The only way to get though the day is keep it as simple as possible and pray this to comes to pass....

GOOD MORNING SUNRISE....12/29/17
--Long
nights are a pain into the neck, and if they are not put in perspective right
quick they have a habit of really throwing a morning off completely.
--Luckily,
it seems the universe and mother nature have a habit of sending little
blessing that remind of us of the days
potential. That is if we choose to look for them.
--This
morning after a long night of searching for some comfort and only finding bags
of rocks, I happened to notice the bright sunrise as I was fumbling my way
through a Charlie horse while putting my shoes on.
--Maybe
it's just me but as I stood there rocking on my Cane working out the dang fool
Charlie horse I just knew it was going to be a good day ......

SCRATCHING MY HEAD IN WONDER....07/06/15
--It seems everyday for some reason or another I’m being reminded of many thing’s. Either the personal trials of trying exist in a world that has pulled out all the stops of trying to appease itself into the complete reversal of the little things we hold dear.
--Or the little thing's that would be missed if it wasn't that wave of goofiness that seems to run through my core.
--Of course my wife humors me because that’s what you do with old fool who drives around flowers when mowing the lawn. Because he didn't have the heart to run the pretty little thing over. Leaving behind a yard that's a path work of unmoved spots in his wake.
--Interestingly riding out and about my head is constantly moving taking it all in. Because in a world where everything is constantly going whack a doodle it’s nice for the reassurance that life goes on.
--From a over abundance of groundhogs everywhere to the birds in the tree's. To the greenness of the yards because of all the dang fool rain.
--Like the two ducks I spotted fighting over a puddle only big enough for one. When we passed them on the way they were really going at it. When we came back apparently they compromised and each was in the puddle taking a bath. Makes you wonder if someday we'll be able to figure out what the ducks did. A little compromise goes a long ways.....

PUTTING THE PIECES TOGETHER...05/19/15
--It take's awhile but usually if I try long enough I can come up with all the pieces in the right place.
--Providing I don't let myself get distracted by little thing's. That at the time seem major.
--It's really amazing how time has a way of smoothing over the little blips in the road. To make them seem like a bad memory. It's almost as if a little magic plays a part.
--But I guess that’s what life is all about. letting the little thing's fade so we can concentrate on living life to the fullest....
POWER TOOLS IN THE MORNING....07/21/15
--There's an unwritten rule in our house that is no playing with power tools until dad's had a cup of coffee or two. It keep's dad from having accidents and keeps mom from having to patch thing's up.
--Of course when dad start's gathering power tool's the children run for the hill’s. Never could figure that one out. Maybe it’s the noise or maybe it’s a warning sign for danger
--What ever little job that needs to be done if help is needed I have to do a lot of coaxing to get the little darling to come out of hiding. Usually my oldest falls victim first. Because quite frankly he's a lousy hider.
--But working together the job gets done and everyone’s happy. Except of course the fates. If no accidents have occurred. But hey there's always next time. And I’m sure they'll be waiting for an old fool to forget the first rule which is lots of coffee before playing with power tools.....

BOOGERS IN THE AFTERNOON.....12/29/17
--Usually
Waffles confines His barking at Boogers to night time. Where if you listen
carefully you can hear the little whack a doodle growling and barking at those
unseen rascals that only He seems to hear.
--Then
there are those days when all He seems to do is bark and growl constantly.
--Now
over the years we sort of gotten used to His wing nut behavior. And even tried
to humor at times. It seems to make Him feel better, and quiet Him down for a
bit.
--But
like most things it only lasts for awhile and He's right bark at it protecting
every one from those unseen little devils only He seems to be able to see. Let
me tell it makes a fellow feel quite safe just knowing old Waffles is on guard
at times like those......

GETTING A STEP UP....10/08/16
--Every once in awhile by no great planning of mine I'll start the day with a step up on the days schedule.
--Like I said it doesn't happen very often, so I try to make the most of it by getting as much done as possible.
--Sure it makes for along day but when it over you know you actually accomplished something and weren't just spinning your wheels all day.
--And besides every once in awhile it's good to get the old creakiness out of all the gears before the long winter sets in......

DIRTY DISHES BEFORE DINNER....03/11/15
--Understanding just won't come. For some it seems real simple. But for other's it's like climbing a steeple.
--Before a new pile is started, the old pile must have departed. As simple as it sounds, it still manages to confound.
--It's not that it's so hard, it's just that it means everyone has to choose a card.
--But rules are made by life and not me....

DISAPPEARING FRENCH FRIES….05/06/15
--If there is only one thing I hate it is trying to fill a basket with cooked French fries. And keep the dang thing filled.
--If there is one thing that brings the kleptomaniac behavior out in people it is hot French fries.
--Especially in the house of whack a doodles where I live. These people are like a roving band who’s one purpose is to keep me hostage frying French fries all night.
--It’s actually gotten to the point where I have to guard the dang basket. And watch the fools like a hawk watching its prey…..

Loud Trucks and Cars....11/13/17
--Over
the years I've gotten used to the fact that cats are just about the weirdest
bunch of things to have around the house.
--Oh
don't get me wrong we've had our share of nutty Dogs, and a few wacky birds.
Not to mention Rabbits, Hamsters and what not. It's just that cats have the
ability to take nuttyness to a whole new level where it almost seems normal.
--The
latest batch of whack a doodles can't stand loud trucks car or anything for that
matter. Everything time one passes they go crazy trying to get the Sam Hill away
from it. Which usually results in a free for all that is quite funny to watch.
--I
will say once thing for the girls they are full of personality, but I guess
that's what you get when you bring home four sister who happen to be cats......

GOOD MORNING HOWDY....07/21/15
--One of my favorite thing's lately is our little Jack Russell dog Waffles and his good morning howdy. No matter what time it is when I make an appearance in the kitchen. Waffles is always beside himself with joy. Jumping up on his hind legs dancing about and whining for attention. And let me tell you on some night's when I’m having a hard time chasing sleep I pop in a lot.
--It amazes me to no end the amount of energy such a small dog can put into just saying howdy. But then again the little fool always was a tad hyper in just about everything he does.
--It may not seem like much but it sure boost my spirits. And I always make sure and spend a couple of minutes letting the little fool know I appreciate his excitement.
--Of course my wife just smiles when she sees it. Because for some reason I think she always figured I liked the little fool. Even though I complain every once in awhile about some of his dang fool shenanigans.....

GOING THROUGH THE MOTION'S....07/15/15
--Being sick is a real pain in the neck in a house full of whack a doodles. It’s not that they don't care it's just that they can't tone down their shenanigans for anything it seems.
--My wife looks at me like I’ve lost what's left of my mind when she knows I don't feel good but force myself to smile and say stuff like you got love the little whack a doodles at lest their consistent.
--Don't ask me what it means, I use it as a reminder to forgive them and remember their whack a doodles they can't help themselves. Even when their being far out in left field they do have their moments when they'll do something that'll just warm the deepest parts of your heart.
--Yeah I know, but hey what do you expect from a fellow trying very hard to remind himself there's even room for whack a doodles.....

FIRST THINGS FIRST….03/16/15
--Sometimes the order in which things are done, isn’t as important as it seems.
--And sometimes the order is more important than the accomplishments that they bring.
--It’s a conundrum but that’s what makes life interesting in a house filled with cats, kittens, dogs children and my wife and me.
--You wouldn’t think it would matter, but apparently it does. Thank God for the whack a doodles because nobody else does….

Box Sliding....11/26/17
--Leave
it up to cats to make a game out of running across the floor at full speed and
diving into a box that then slides across the floor.
--I
suppose it's better than some of their other games like singing the blues at
all hours of the night. Or my favorite whittling away at their dang fool
scratching post at all hours of the night.
--And
to be honest it's when their quiet as all get out that I become really nervous
because then I know the little whack a doodles are up to something......

SLIDING OUT THE FRONT DOOR….03/10/15
--I guess not many people realize that it’s important to try and keep paths somewhat level when shoveling. Of course like all teacher’s life usually reserves the lessons of the most benefit for the ones with the hardest heads. At it seems that way in my case.
--While taking the dogs out to do their business the other day I was treated to another of those lessons.
--Apparently while most of our attention was on our driveway in the month of February. You know the whole trying to keep it clean enough to get in and out thing. I kind of forgot to keep a eye on the path to the house. And as a result found myself sliding of the deck down the stairs and down the path leading to the house. When I finally came to a stop. I realized that while the path was shoveled it was also at a slope. And because of the warming temps had turned into one giant slide.
--Needless to say, it was really a awaking experience. And after I was able to untangle myself from the dogs and cats who thought it was all a big game and wanted to do it all again. Took about a hour to fix. As usual when I did get back into the house I noticed all the cats and kittens had been watching the whole thing out the window. And if I didn’t know better I’d swear they were laughing it up….

CHASING SHADOWS....10/12/16
--As the shadows of the impending sunset cross the yard Squash Buddy and Puffy are showing them the way by batting them along.
--I've to expect a certain amount of Whack a doodleness, from those wingnuts, and as of yet they haven't let me down. But chasing the shadows across the yard is a new one for even them.
--They seem to be having fun, and I guess that's what counts in life, enjoying it to the fullest. There's probably a lesson in there somewhere....

NEW PHONE JITTERS .....07/25/16
--Having to buy a new phone because of a network upgrade is a pain in the neck Especially when it seems there's a ton to choose from. Trying to find a phone that's simple and won't give the old brain pan quivers is darn near impossible.
--Of course then the fun really begins when you get the dang fool thing home, and try to figure out how to use the dang fool thing.
--The little Manuel is written with print that's so small you need a dang fool magnifying glass.
--But like everything with patience and of course a bottle aspirin you finally figure out how to use the dang fool thing 2 hours later......

Fried Turkey .....11/26/17
--One
of the things we like about Turkey is you can get a couple of meals from one bird.
--After
the whole Thanksgiving thing we usually try for a little something different
for the next bird like frying the breast and making a soup or stew or biscuits
and gravy with the rest .
--Fried
Turkey night is one of the few times I actually see every one happy and on the
same page when it comes to a dinner. Which is a two for in my book. And
something I really like .
A Welcome Sight....07/07/15
--Maybe it's me but the greeting smile those big brown eye's
give in the morning are a welcome sight.
--I always return a smile, it’s the lest I can do. Because whatever the time they always smile in return. Be it sunup or the we hours of the night.
--I figure if they can take the time then so can I.
--Most people would say but there just dogs, cats and kitten’s. they probably want something and know the only way to get it is play on your soft side. Which even if true, doesn’t make it any less different. Because quite frankly sometimes a smile is just a dang fool welcome sight.....

GUESS WE SHOULD BE HAPPY.....05/01/15
--Shopping in a store with a public bathroom is nice. Because sometimes you just have to go.
--Some public bathrooms are nice and clean and some well lets just say you try and touch very little.
--Some bathrooms have running water to wash your hands, and some sort of drying ability. And some well if they have running water your lucky.
--Being that times are hard I guess most stores that still have public bathrooms figure we as customers should be happy with what we get. Which is what I’m thinking about when I’m drying my hands on my shirt or looking for a bottle of hand sanitizer.....

PUTTING BUG-A-BOO'S TO REST...03/04/15
--The date here. And the hour fast approaches. The bug-a-boo's are dancing with great cheer.
--Your mind is in a whorl, your slowly losing sight. All of the thing's you've learned your convinced are just not right.
--If you don't stop, and take a deep breath, your afraid you'll forget all of the rest.
--The best thing to do with bug-a-boo's is to remember who's in charge of who. Oh their a persistent little bunch and can be quite tiring, But that's only if you forget WHO'S IN CHARGE OF WHO....

GETTING THE URGE....10/20/17
--Every
once in awhile the urge comes along and whispers in the old ear, " Do you
know how long it's been since....?" And then of course it starts, the old
familiar longing for a little something different.
--Usually
I try to ignore the fools notions and do the day a little different. Sometimes
a change in the old routine is enough to satisfy the little mischief maker.
--And
then there are those times when it takes on a life of its own and for no reason
what so ever you find yourself sitting in a old plastic lawn chair watching the
sunrise on a chilly damp fall morning wondering what you were thinking leaving
your dang fool cane inside on a morning like this.
--There's
no doubt about it the dang fool urge can be a real pain in the neck if it isn't
kept in check. Just take it from a old pink hat wearing fool who had to use a
old plastic lawn chair for a cane one morning.....

LONG NIGHTS DON’T HAVE TO MEAN LONG DAYS...03/02/15
--Good morning. sounds simple , but sometimes hard to achieve, when the nights spent tossing ,turning and fighting about.
--The chill in the air helps a tad , if only to put things in prospective for the day to come.
--Wouldn't take much to teeter on the edge. But there's no sense in that, why compound a long night with a even longer day.
--Working within the confines of what's left is sometimes easier than riding a basket into a downward spiral. In the end the choice is ours to make....

A little Morning Tea Mixed With Snow....12/23/17
--Drinking
Green Tea out under the picnic table umbrella probably isn't really the
brightest idea in the world when you wake up feeling like you've been wailed on
with a bag of rocks all night. But the mental recharge it provides is more than
enough to over come the temporary discomforts.
--At
least that's what I tell myself as the snow falls gently to earth and my bottom
becomes molded to the dang fool plastic lawn chair from hades.
--WAFFLES
of course thinks sitting outside in the snow is stupid and has been letting me
know of his displeasure by barking and chewing on my shoe.
--The
cat's who hang around the house are starring at me with a look of annoyance
because I woke them up and forgot to give them food. But hey at 4:30am in the
morning what in Sam Hill did they expect.
--When
I finally soaked up enough of the frosty morning I asked waffles if he was done
fooling around he gave me a dirty look and ran for the door.
--Oh, well I guess he just doesn't appreciate a frosty
morning cup of tea
CHECKING THE DATES....09/19/16
--Every so often it's nice to go through the can goods and check the exportation dates. It's a pain because despite the best of good intentions the dang fool cans always get mixed up.
--Now of course nobody likes the dang fool job, but it sure saves a lot of hassles when your trying to make dinner and you keep getting expired cans.
--So about once a month we usually go through the dang fool stuff, it's a pain but worth it in the long run. Life’s hard enough without getting sick from eating expired food....

FOR THE LOVE OF MISERY ....10/27/17
--I
don't know why but after all these years it still amazes me how there are some
people who seem to enjoy causing other people to be miserable. Why this amazes
me I have no idea but it does.
--I
guess I've never really wrapped my head around the cruel streak that runs in
some people.
--It's
sad really because life would be so much easier if we all tried help each other
a bit more. But I guess with some people that seen as a sign of weakness and
needs to be exploited at all cost.
--All
I can say is I for one feel sad for these people and say a prayer for them that
they may find peace and come to know the true joy of helping their fellow man ...........
A Basket Full Of Clyde....11/16/17
--Gathering
dirt laundry has never been my strong suit, I provide a basket for the dang
fool things and then drag the dang fool basket to the laundry. Usually because it
seems no one figure out what you do once
the laundry basket is full.
--When
it comes to washing laundry I have my problems with the whole process that go
back years, and now I just try to get through the whole process before the
furry little gremlins start their Shenanigans, and I end all worked up for nothing.
--Now
my self I like to fill the washer with dirty laundry in the morning and wash it
in the afternoon. Why I have no idea but it's always been the way I've done the
dang fool wash.
--When
I went back in the laundry room in the afternoon to start the laundry I heard a
cat crying and thought one of the wing nuts had gotten lost in the laundry room.
After a quick search I found no cat so was going to start the dang fool wash
but the dang fool cat was still crying.
--So
shaking my head I decided to search the one place I hadn't search when I opened
the lid up popped Clyde.
--Apparently
the little fool was sleeping in the laundry basket when I dragged it into the
laundry room and dumped it into the washer. He must have woken up when I closed
the lid.
--Well
I dragged his furry little butt out of the washer and checked to make sure he
hadn't left any treats behind. When I turned back around the dang fool was
curled up sleeping in the dang fool laundry basket apparently he hadn't learned
a dang fool thing or the whole ordeal just tired his little lazy butt right out
and he needed another nap before lunch......
BIG GRUMPYS SOFT SIDE....07/01/15
--Even though he does his best to convince everyone, he's whack a doodle when it come's to getting along. I caught the fool giving the babies a bath and checking on jinx's babies more than once last night.
--And when the babies started crying the big old fool curled up with them in their bed my wife and daughters made for them.
--Of course he tried to play is cool when I asked him how his night was. By closing his eye's and pretending he couldn't hear me. But we both knew he was so full of it. Especially when the babies started crying and he jumped down and ran to go check on them.
--But that's life with dinky, the old bi-polar mother hen at heart. Of course squash was a different story most of the night he gave the babies a wide breath. And jinx well she had her own problem's.
--When the children and my wife got up the first thing they did was check on the babies with smile covered faces. Given the current state of the weather was nice to see......

Must Be Santa 2016 ...12/23/17
--I
wasn't to impressed with the movie Must Be Santa while it did have a few good
parts that were rather nice on a whole the movie had a very cheap quality to
it. And it really wasn't that good, But like I said it did have a few good
parts and thankfully the were spread out so it really wasn't that bad of a
watch.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I'd probably give Must be Santa a 6.5 I know when my
children were younger they probably would of gotten a kick out of it. And yes I'll
probably watch it again but that's only because I like Christmas movies even
the not very good ones. It'll just be awhile....
BUGS ON THE WINDOW....10/14/17
--There's
something about trying to look out a bug covered window that can be a tad unnerving.
Especially when you are trying to enjoy that first cup of green tea and the
little darlings keep moving about. It doesn't take make to simulate a over
active imagination. And wham-o, our of on a wild tangent about bugs taking over
the world.
--Maybe
it's the time of the year, but it seems every year around this time the dang
fool wack a doodle lady bugs, come back in droves and darn near cover the the
place. Of course this being the house of whack a doodle I wouldn't expect
anything less.
--The
fun really starts when the little darling get in the house. Then most of my free
seems to entail escorting them back out again.
--I
will say one thing they add a bit of charm to a already delightful time of
year. And it makes for a interesting time all the way around.....

Christmas In Angel Falls 2017.....12/23/17
--Right
from the start I liked Christmas In Angel Falls, as usual every thing in a
Hallmark Movie seems to fit from the music to the writing and of course the chemistry
of all the actors .
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give Christmas In Angel Falls a big old 10, and know it
will make a welcome addition to our Christmas Movie list....
Long Night Sniffles...12/17/17
--Funny
thing about the sniffles they don't really take a rest when you decide to go to
bed. Far from it they hang around waking you up constantly to remind you that
their still around.
--If
it wasn't such a pain in the neck it might be funny, because in a lot of ways sniffles
are like a lot of thing's in life it seems. Just hanging around to keep reminding
us of their presence.
--But
what do I know, what logic I find is probably a result of trying to sleep in a
bed made of rocks and wyping, my dang fool nose, every five minutes.....
A Meowy Christmas 2017 ....12/23/17
--Ok
it wasn't very good, but it did have it's moments, and it did make me laugh a
few times. For that I'm extremely greatfull, especially in this day and age
when a good laugh is getting harder to find.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Meowy Christmas a 8.5. It wasn't very good but it
did have it's moments and for that alone I'll probably watch it again.....
Just A few More Days....12/21/17
--In
the old days right about now I'd have fielded about my thousand question about
when the big man was coming.
--Now
of course the children are some what older and the only questions that seem to
be fielded are when dinner is going to be ready.
--I
guess as we get older some of the magic becomes a tad more duller and most of
the mystery just doesn't seem to make it's way into the reality of the here and
now.
--It's
a shame really because most of the here and now seems to be filled with so many mysterious things that because of
our preoccupation we just seem to be missing.
--Hopefully
in the New Year coming we'll be able to open our dang fool eyes and catch a few before it's to late.....

All Saints 2017 ...12/17/17
--I
was kind of surprised by All Saints mostly because after the first few minutes
I realized it wasn't the usual Christmas Holiday movie. In fact it wasn't until
about halfway through that I realized what it was was a very nice little movie
that had a rather thought provoking story to tell.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give All Saints a 10, it was a nice break from the usual
Christmas Movie we watch. And I know we'll probably watch it again.
Rooster Visits and Cold Shifting Winds....12/15/17
--Every
Winter We move the Dog houses, up on the porch. It gives the whack a doodles
who hang around outside a place to sleep and provides a nice wind break from
the snow so we don't end up with a giant snow drift in front of the kitchen
door.
--This
morning along with the usual assortment of cats popping out for their morning
snack was a dang fool possum, and the neighbor's Rooster.
--WAFFLES
didn't really mind the cat's and the possum, the neighbors Rooster He's really
got a bone to pick with since the dang fool thing pecked Him over the summer.
So Waffles chased the dang fool rooster over to His yard before doing His business.
--When
He came back I tried to remind Him that that wasn't being very neighborly, and probably
wasn't going to make Santa Claus any to happy either. He just growled at me and
followed me into the house. I guess He's never heard of the old saying forgive
and forget...
A Christmas Proposal 2008....12/17/17
--What
could be better a Christmas Movie with Tom Arnold and David Deluise in it. The
rest is just icing on the cake. The movie was both funny and heart warming and
had a few life lessons to boot.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Christmas Proposal a big 10, and plan on making aa
place for it on our yearly Christmas movie list.
Smelly Cats Friend....12/15/17
--Spooks
stinks when she passes gas and when she does Her business you really need a
hasmat, suit to change the Kitty box.
--It's
not the first time we've had cats who have this problem, there was Goofy, Bully,
and a score of others.
--No
one realized when Clyde came He was going to be another in a long line of
stinkers. At least not for the first few days.
--It
didn't take long though before we began to realize that Spooks and Clyde made a
very deadly combination.
--To
make matters even more enjoyable the two little whack a doodles became fast
friends and usually fool around until all hours of the night. That is of course
when there not doing their duty which seems to be every few hours or so.
--When
my wife asked me what I thought she should get the cat's for Christmas I
couldn't help but smile when I said a big old can of air freshener......

Wrapping Presents With Cats....12/17/17
--Cats
are the most curious little things, I guess that's why they have a old saying
about just that fact.
--Drag
out some wrapping paper, and just watch and see what happens. As if it isn't
hard enough trying to wrap the dang fool present, try it with a few extra
little paws to boots. It's like something out of a Abbott and Costello movie I
swear.
--But
if that wasn't the worst part it's what they do to the dang fool present after
you make the mistake of putting it under the Christmas tree.
--Like
every thing it does teach patience and I guess that's a good thing. And besides
I am getting a bit better at wrapping, so I guess it's not all bad.....
SCROOGED 1988...12/18/16
--We liked SCROOGED the first time we saw it and have continued to love it even more in our yearly viewings. The cast is of course quite good and the whole atmosphere generated by the movie is right on the nail. But the best part is of course the ending where it all comes together.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 We give SCROOGED a big old 10, we watch it a couple of times a year usually when the old spirit needs a bit of a boost. I should mention there are a few graphic and scary parts so we usually watch the taped of TV version, even though the children are older …

The lonely Christmas Tree...12/15/17
--Once
upon a time we had about a half dozen Christmas Trees growing in the front
yard. That is until a bunch of dang fool bugs came and ate all the needles of
the other 5. It was a sad day when we had to cut the little darlings down.
--But
like all things there was a bright side I guess without the other 5 the sixth
one was able to get more of everything it needed because it wasn't long before
it had grown taller than any of the ones who had come before.
--Now
after all these years it stands as a reminder of the ones who are no longer her
and beacon of it's own green beauty.
--Sure
sometimes it looks quite lonely out there in the cold wind but I have a feeling
it takes great comfort from the little blessings that comes its way each day. After all life's
like that sometimes, it's the little things that seem to help more that
anything at all....

A Norman Rockwell Christmas Story 1995....12/17/17
--I
liked A Norman Rockwell Christmas Story, it was a delight and had a very good
message to boot. Which is always a two for in my book.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Norman Rockwell Christmas Story a 10. It was the type
of show I would of played for the children when they were younger.
The last few days before Christmas 12/22/14
--The closer you get to Christmas the more the excitement builds. Everyone seems to be counting the days and minutes until the day is here.
--The shopper’s are out and about doing there last minute shuffle, and the bell ringer are ringing with added gusto.
--The driver’s are actually polite and waving you on, and not making a mad dash looking for a crash.
--The store clerks are smiling, and quite happy it seems, and not frowning and being down right mean.
--Now if we could only freeze time for a bit and let everyone enjoy these last few days before Christmas, maybe just maybe we might remember for the rest of the year.
--If I could have one wish granted for Christmas that would be it. That the Christmas spirit would hang around for the rest of the year. And everyone would try to remember it..

A Very Merry Toy Store 2017 ....12/17/17
--I
found A Very Merry Toy Store to be a rather good movie. It was fun to watch the
chemistry between the two leads, and the chemistry between the rest of the cast.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Very Merry Toy Store a 10, it was a delight to see
all of the cast work so well with other. And to make the story work as a
result. I know for a fact we'll be watching it again and making a place for it
on our yearly Christmas Movie list.
Rekindling The Christmas Spirit....12/15/17
--It
seems to be harder each year to rekindle the Christmas spirit, for some reason
the constant bombardment of daily negativity has placed the it on life support
by years end.
--I
suppose it could be worse the spark is still there and as long it it prevails
the fire can be rekindled.
--Now
if I can convince those dang fool cats to stop knocking the Christmas Ornaments
all over the place it might go along way to improving the old season Holly Jolly

THE PARKER FAMILY MOVIES….11/16/16
--Ok it gets a little confusing but when you put them all together they make a better rounded picture of the Parker family. Yeah I know everybody has their favorites, but you should really give the others a chance. I did and let me tell you they’ve become my favorite movies for Christmas, and summer of course.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give all 3 PARKER FAMILY MOVIES a 10, and really fun to watch.
CHRISTMAS STORY 1 1983
CHRISTMAS STORY 2 2011
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY/MY SUMMER STORY 1994

A PICTURE WITH SANTA....12/20/15
--On a visit to the local farm and supply center recently for cat food. I happened across a announcement for a bring your pet in for a picture with Santa event they were having later that day.
--On the face of it sounded quite cute. And couldn't help but remind me of the first time we tried to take the children for a visit with Santa.
--Amazingly the older ones were ok with it. And my youngest didn't really want to leave the old fellow. My middle child just wouldn't have anything to do with the whole idea. And instead had to have her list handed to the old fellow.
--I tried to talk my wife into hanging around to see how the pets faired with the event. But we were running short of time.
--Of course when we were trying to make our way through the people waiting in line with their pets. It looked like old Santa was going to be in for some fun with that group of four legged little darlings....

WINDOW WONDERLAND 2013...11/18/16
--WINDOW WONDERLAND was a fun movie to watch, I found the chemistry that slowly developed between the main characters very entertaining. Sure it was predictable at times but that’s part of the fun of watching a romantic Christmas movie.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give WINTER WONDERLAND a big old 10 it’s definitely going to be on our Christmas movie night list for many years to come.

BUG EYES AND THE PRETTY PAPER....12/20/15
--It use to be the children were the only ones you had to worry about sneaking a peak at the presents under the tree. Now of course bug eyes has become fascinated with the pretty paper.
--At first we figured he was chasing mice. But when he showed up one morning with a bow stuck to him that he couldn't get off we realize he'd spent half the night playing whack a doodle games with the wrapping paper.
--The good thing of course is this new fascination has taken his mind of the tree for a bit. The bad news is with 5 days to go until Christmas were going to be re wrapping a lot of presents.
--I suppose it could be worse, at lest he still finds time to catch a few mice. Which he's been leaving next to the tree. I guess besides milk and cookies this year old saint nick can expect to find a little something from bug eyes left out for him....

NATIONAL TREE 2009...11/19/16
--I liked NATIONAL TREE, I found it heartwarming and even fun at times. I will say the chemistry that the cast generated made it a lot easier to watch.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give NATIONAL TREE a big old 10 and I know it’s going to be on our Christmas movie night list for many years to come.

When There's A Chill In The Air....12/13/17
--Old
WAFFLES doesn't like to go out to do His business when there's a chill in the
air. But then again I can't say as I blame Him. To make the whole thing more
easier I usually go out with the little fool. He does his business and I get a
bit of fresh air.
--Now
the cat's who hang around outside don't really seem to mind the chill to much.
Although they do seem to be a tad frisky and don't seem to have much patience
when it comes to some things. But I guess it's probably a cat thing.
--The
children seem to hang half in and out of hibernation mode. When the winter
season begins. But they mellow out with a few nudges here and there.
--Spooks,
Dagon, Baby, and Tiggy just seem to get wackier if that's possible.
--And
The Wife and I well we just keep on keeping on. But that's life here at Whack A
Doodle Acre.....
HOLIDAY IN HANDCUFFS 2007.…11/21/16
--It’s amazing what good writing and acting can do with a theme that’s been done before. But that’s exactly what happened in HOLIDAY IN HANDCUFFS there was so much chemistry you forgot about the fact that the whole dang stories been told before. Although not as well as in HOLIDAY IN HANDCUFFS because quite frankly it was the kind of movie that’s going to get plenty of playing time in our house in the years to come.
WAFFLES and the Snow Boogers....12/14/17
--Getting
WAFFLES to go outside in the winter is getting harder as the years go by. He
just doesn't seem to impressed with the idea of leaving His nice warm bed for a
frosty adventure in the dang fool snow.
--I
can't say as I blame Him to much cold air sets the old bones to aching and then
some. But when your on the up down sleep pattern you learn to make allowances I
guess.
--Grabbing
my cup of tea and coat I followed old waffles outside for a few minutes of cold
winter morning mental recharge.
--Every
thing was going fine until the wind shifted and started to blow across the yard
picking up snow dust in its wake. Waffles saw the giant cloud of white coming
after Him a did a mad dash for the house barking all the way.
--I
couldn't help but laugh and ended up spilling my dang fool tea which started Morning
Flinch, to chattering away. Apparently all the racket woke the little darling
up.
--Squash,
and Puffy just gave me a evil eye as they sat munching on their pre-morning
treat I had tossed them.
--When
I opened the door WAFFLES dove into His bed and rolled about for a bit before
settling down. When I asked Him if He had fun He just growled at me and closed
His eyes.
--I
guess it's going to be a long winter because now Old WAFFLES has something else
He's afraid of Snow Boogers.......
LIVING ROOM CHRISTMAS LIGHTS....12/15/15
--When the children were little, we decorated the living room with Christmas lights. My wife was more than happy to point out that most people put the things on the outside of there house.
--My response was of course oh pooh. Just because most people do something doesn’t mean I have to. If anything it generally means I’ll head in the other direction. Besides the children loved the dang fool things and that was why I did it in the first place.
--Well over the years we kept up the tradition until it in itself became our norm. I guess that’s how thing’s change. A little bit at a time.
--Of course having Christmas lights hanging in the living room also drives the poor old cats bonkers. And that’s a two for in my book. So I guess the tradition here to stay for awhile at least....

THE SANTA BABY MOVIES….12/09/16
--I liked the SANTA BABY MOVIES although I wish they could of gotten to whole cast from the first movie for the second it all worked out pretty good and was really entertaining so I guess that’s what counts.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give THE SANTA BABY MOVIES a big old 10 their fun for the whole family if you can drag the little darling away from their do dads long enough.

Christmas Cookies and Whack A Doodle Cats...12/13/17
--Making
Cookies is fun, unfortunately when you have 4 whack a doodles cats running
around it can be kind of tricky.
--Not
only do they get under foot they constantly want to help it seems. Which can be
a bit of a challenge in itself.
--Of
course it's probably just the season it has a tendency to bring out the whack a
doodles in us all ......
THE SANTA PAWS MOVIES….11/16/16
--It’s sort of a two for in my book a Christmas movie filled with dogs it doesn’t really get any better than that. Sure there a little corny but that’s what leads to their charm I guess.
--On scale of 1 to 10 I give THE SANTA PAWS MOVIES a big old 10, their fun for the whole family.
SANTA PAWS 1 THE SEARCH FOR SANTA PAWS 2010
SANTA PAWS 2 THE SANTA PUPS 2012

Some assembly required… 11/16/14
--Jolly old Saint Nicholas, delivers toys and what not on Christmas Eve each
year.
--Sometimes I hang my head and sigh on my way to bed on Christmas Eve night. Please Santa this year would you please get it right. Each year I ask and each year you mange all but one.
--Now I'm not really complaining but could you please leave the one that needs to be assembled to somebody else’s children....

48 Christmas Wishes 2017.... 12/13/17
--I
liked 48 Christmas Wishes, although a bit childish it has plenty of heart and
that is well worth a watch in my book.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give 48 Christmas Wishes a 7.5 only because it has a few
spots that might have to be explained to younger children.
The Best Present Ever...11/23/14
--There once were a couple of parents, who thought and thought about each present they bought for there little ones on Christmas day.
--Trying for most best of the bestest for their little ones on Christmas day.
--The presents were in all shapes and sizes, from biggest to little. And back again. For their little ones on Christmas day.
--And come to find out it was all for naught, because the most played with present was the boxes the presents came in on that Christmas day...

A Bramble House Christmas....2017 12/13/17
--I
liked A Bramble House Christmas although a bit dark in spots it mellowed out
and was a great movie for the holiday.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Bramble House Christmas a big old 10 and I know well'll
find a place for it on our Christmas Movie list for many years to come......
A Gift To Remember 2017.... 12/14/17
--I
thought A Gift To Remember was a delight, but what else would you expect from a
Hallmark movie. Even though the story was a new twist on a old plot that's been
done countless times Hallmark as usual has provided a refreshing turn to the
story .
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Gift to Remember a 10 and know we'll be finding a place for it
on our Christmas Movie list.....
The Sweet Smell Of A Frosty Winter Morning....12/14/17
--If there's one thing I've learned over the years it's that when sleep won't come sometimes
it's just easier to get up and putter around until it will.
--Of
course it can be a tad tiring to be doing the dang fool up and down thing all
night long. It can also be kind of refreshing and once in awhile enables you to
to find those blessing you would normally miss.
--On
a whole I'd say a few minutes standing outside on a winters morning can be very
refreshing and quite the mental recharge. There's just something about the Sweet
Smell of a frosty winter morning that gives this old pink hat wearing fool such
a mental jolt that the cobwebs just seem to fade away. Leaving a kind of inner
peace that these days is getting harder and harder to find.....
A Joyous Christmas 2017....12/14/17
--I
liked A Joyous Christmas , it was fun, heartwarming and best of all in my book
had a happy ending. With so much of life in a downward sworl, lately it's nice
to sit down with a Christmas Movie that helps comfort and actually leaves you
feeling better.
--On
a scale of 1 to 10 I give A Joyous Christmas a 10. It will make a welcome
addition to our Christmas Movie list....
Waiting For The Holly Jolly .... 12/13/17
--In
the upside down world that we seem to be living in these days it's no wonder
that the old Holly Jolly is a bit late this year. The days are filled with anticipation
of the magic of the Season.
--But
for some dang fool reason the darkness of the coming year of whack a doodles
running the wonderland express has cast a shadow on the season and leaves a
bitter taste and a vacuum in the heart.
--Like
every thing I suppose the universe will correct itself in time and set things right
again, and it's that promise that kindles the spark that enables each day to be
carried on......
A CHRISTMAS MEMORY 1997..11/17/16
--I’ll be the first to admit the only reason I sat down to watch this movie was because PATTY DUKE was in it, I’ve always liked her. Of course once the movie started I found myself instantly drawn into the movie and enjoying the ride. A CHRISTMAS MEMORY was funny, sad, and heartwarming all at the same time the chemistry of the cast made this movie a very enjoyable time.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give A CHRISTMAS MEMORY a big old 10, it would make a fine addition to a family night of watching Christmas movies.

THE CHRISTMAS SEASON SHAKE AND BAKE....12/24/15
--I don't mind a little chill in fact over the years I’ve even gotten it down to a system or two for handling the whole thing.
