Be careful what you ask for...12/05/14
--Over the years we've had many note worthy cats. Some for their friendliness or lack of. Some for their intelligence or again lack of. Probably the most note worthy was a black stray who found his way to our house from who knows where. And believe my wife will back me up when I say I could often be heard yelling at that cat where in the Sam hill did you come from? And why in Sam hill don't you go back?
--I guess I better explain.
--When ever I had a job to do outside this cat would take it upon himself to follow me around and try help. Sounds good right. Except his idea of helping would be to steal my tools.
--I'd be under the car working and he would follow me. I would lie there grouping for a tool, only to not be able to find it. I'd crawl out from under the car to find the wrench I was looking for was gone. And looking around there would be that dang cat heading of to God knows where with my wretch.
--Have you ever tried to catch a cat who didn't want to be caught. Darn near impossible.
--Needless to say somewhere on our property is a whole treasure Trove of tools. that even now are slowly turning up. Mostly it seems when I'm trying to mow the lawn or trying till a spot for a garden.
--Some times I lie awake and wonder about that dang cat. He hung around for awhile and then moved on. Of course. leaving behind a half empty toolbox, and a man with no patience, with a few lessons learned.
--Now that I think about it maybe that was the whole point. Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it...

It’s just to dang cold…12/31/14
--Looking out the window watching the cold wind blow, I’m reminded of other day’s with so much snow.
--To say that I am sad would really be premature.
--When I am is really quite happy to be inside here, and not standing out there.
--To many day’s and night’s out there fighting all that dad burn cold ,has taught me many things.
--Be thankful for what you’ve got, because the alternative is just to dang cold….

Cat’s Dog’s and Kitten’s…12/31/14
--In the arena of cause and effect there are many thing’s that play havoc with life. I have found this to be true so many times you would think it would be a consideration before anything is attempted.
--When dealing with cat’s dog’s and kittens, it’s almost a must.
--Change one thing in their lives and they all become a bunch of whack a doodle’s.
--I’m sure it’s nothing personal, and perhaps in the coming year ahead I’ll finally get it right.
--Or perhaps try to remember before I try anything new. When it comes cat’s dog’s and kitten’s leaving them alone is the best that you can do…

Waiting for the day to begin….12/31/14
--The early morning hours are quiet or so it would seem.
--Alone I sit with coffee cup in hand, trying to get a handle on the coming day ahead.
--The cat is sleeping curled at my feet, why I’m not really sure.
--It seems that we are alone, and waiting for the day to begin.
--When out of the corner of my eye I spy a little tiny mouse, trying to make it by the cat sleeping at my feet.
--Well the cat just yawns and looks up at me, gives a little stretch. And runs of to give that little mouse holly heck.
--I can’t help but crack a smile, because the day has finally begun…

Waiting for the ball to drop..12/31/14
--Well it finally here the last day of the year.
--I’ll be sad to see the old year past but I’m really hoping the new years a tad better.
--If anything I’m sure it prove to be a adventure, and that’s what life’s all about.
--If we all try to pull together I’m sure it’ll all work out..

Winter Weather Advisory....01/07/15
--Well the snow is falling lazily to the ground, and all the predictions are for more snow to come. Which in itself is no great surprise after all it is winter.
--The radio has been pounding us all morning winter advisory's telling basically the same thing. But in such a way to try and make us think were in the prelude to the storm of the century.
--I don't blame them really I mean all they really have to work with is whatever the forecast might be at the time. Of course their going to try and jazz it up a little.
--But come on don't you think a winter weather advisory should mean something severe is on the way.
--Maybe somebody should read that tale about the boy who cried wolf....

Sometimes thing’s are just what they are..12/10/14
--It seems to me people are forever coming up with labels, for thing’s that are or are not necessary. Or for the most part just a plain old waste of time.
--Sometimes thing’s are just what they are.
--It seems to me if people spent more time accepting thing’s for what they are, they’d have more time to concentrate on thing’s that really matter. Like how in the Sam hill to get those peal of thing’s of a new can of coffee without spilling coffee all over the place…

Taking a few moments to count your blessings.....01/14/15
--The biggest hurdle to growing up seems to be doing thing's that are expected of you on a daily basis . Everyone likes a break once in awhile. And life can be endless moments of drudgery if we don't learn to take a deep breath and take a few moments for our selves every once in awhile.
--My wife and I have tried to teach our children not to forget to take a few moments every once in awhile to basically count your blessing's I guess. To often we all get caught up in life's endless struggle just to get by that we forget to do this and pay the price when it comes due later in the day. Usually when were trying to wind down and get some much needed sleep.
--Of course like everything in life taking a few moments every once in awhile seems to be a skill that has to be learned. Especially these days of go go go. Where everybody seems to be in a constant rush. But all we can do is keep trying and learn from our mistakes....

THAT OLD CHRISTMAS TREE….12/26/14
--The presents are all unwrapped, and have found a new home. Each happy in their journey and no longer feeling alone.
--The wrapping paper, and tape are put up for another year. Waiting for another chance to appear.
--The tree is still standing quite tall so far. even though the cats have made a conquest of all the lower balls.
--The question has been proposed how long will we leave it. How long will we let it be.
--Call me an old softy or call me a romantic fool, but I'm just not in a hurry to pack away the spirit of that fun filled special day. If I had my druthers I'd leave up and let it be.
--So it could remind us that at least once a year anything is possible and can happen if we let. That day called Christmas day...

Car Inspections...11/13/14
--Sitting in the garage waiting for you're annual car inspection, is like waiting for the other shoe to drop after your father gets home. You know it could go well, and you try to go over everything that might be possible to go wrong. And of course how much it's all going to cost you.
THE ABNORMAL AMERICAN….11/14/14
--While waiting for my wife to finish checking out at a local store the other day a young man with a clipboard came up to me and asked if he could ask me a few questions for a survey he was taking. Not having anything better to do beside wait, I said sure why not. I mean, how many times can you read the store flyer before your bored out of mind.
--So while I patiently waited he fiddled with his papers and after a bit began his questions.
--"What race do you consider yourself? White, black, Hispanic, Asian, Muslin, Latino, or other."
--I smiled and said, "American"
--This seemed to shake him up so much he almost dropped his clipboard. “I’m sorry sir perhaps you didn't understand the question? I was asking about what race do you consider yourself?"
--Well not wanting to upset the guy any more for fear he'd drop his clipboard. I tried once again to answer his question. “I guess you could say other than"
--This seemed to satisfy him some what until he came to the next question. Which was trying to nail exactly what race it was I considered myself.
--He rattled off another list of races. Half of which I couldn't pronounce let alone remember. And then stood there patiently with pen poised ready to write down my answer.
--I smiled and said,” I’m afraid I'll have to spell it out for you since it seems to be a dying race, A-M-E-R-I-C-A-N."
--Well he started to write when I guess he figured out what I had said, because he sort of lost control of his fine motor skills and dropped his clip board scattering papers all over.
--I got up to give him a hand, when I noticed my wife was finally done checking out. And figured I better head on over.
--As I was walking away I said, "I'm sorry I can't help you pick up your papers.” My wife's done and I really need to help her with her cart. Walking away I could hear him muttering to himself about people being to stupid to answer a simple question.
--I guess it probably would have been better for him if I'd just went along with the norm and picked from the list.....

AMERICAN PRIDE….11/24/14
--Oh when did we forget what a great place this really is?
--Oh when did we become afraid to speak of it? For fear that, we might offend.
--Oh when did we decide to rewrite our history, instead of trying to learn from it?
--Oh when did we stop reaching out to each other, to try and get things done?
--Oh when did we draw the line when it came to paying respect to the one's who paid the price to keep use free? And say you did not do it for me.
--oh when did we decide that being proud of who we are is such a great sin.
--Maybe it's. Time we started to remember, what a great place this really is.
--I'm proud to be an American, and proud of that old flag and land over which she waves. The only country on this earth were everybody’s welcome no matter who you are.
--God bless America, I'm proud to be an American...

Could of, should of, would of’s…12/02/14
--these past few days it seems a lot of people are surprised by a lot of things, that have been happening. Why just this morning I read at least a half a dozen things that made me scratch my head and wonder just what hand basket I’d fallen into.
--Maybe it’s time for people to stop worrying about could of‘s, should of’s, and would of’s. and start learning from our mistakes…

There’s room for everything and everyone ..12/03/14
--Have you ever tried to explain to a child why they shouldn't play with something. That even though it looks normal will most definitely hurt them. The arguments you get are just mind boggling sometimes.
--But it don't look mean. And maybe the one that stung me was having a bad day. But it's so pretty, I just want to hold it.
--It seems the list could go on and on.
--As carefully as you can you try to explain that there are something’s that even though they look and most of the time act harmless. Really don't like to be touched, played with or bothered. So it's best to leave them alone.
--Most of the time you can get along as long as everyone respects everyone's else's place in the universe.
--Of course every once in awhile you get the lone Whack a Doodle in any bunch who just like’s to sting or bite for no reason. That's when you get a really big flyswatter and put end to their shenanigan‘s...

I can't hear you my eye's are closed..12/02/14
--It never fails to amaze me how cat's are like children.
--When you tell a child no they look at you smile and close their eye's and continue doing what they were doing anyways. Like the simple of closing their eye's shuts of their hearing. and if they can't hear you say no then it must be alright.
--When you tell a cat no they stop look at you close their eye's and go right back to doing what they were doing.
--Myself I can't figure out who taught who what, but it amazes me to no end that they both use the same response to the same thing.
--Personally I'm beginning to think it's hardwired into their DNA…

A LITTLE SOMETHING SPECIAL UNDER THE CHRISTMAS TREE….12/21/14
--We had just set up the tree, and were in the process of cleaning and rearranging the living room to make room for all the Christmas activity’s.
--My wife was arranging the tree skirt around the tree when she found one of the cats catnip mice she had bought him last year. She picked it up and was squeezing it trying to get the cats attention. Apparently the one’s she had bought squeaked. And the one she was squeezing wouldn’t squeak. She yelled to me that there was something wrong with the mouse’s squeaker.
--Well I looked at the mouse and realized that it’s squeaking days were long past because it was a real mouse.
--When I pointed this out to my wife she threw the mouse and yelled at me because I was laughing.
--I couldn’t help it. It was funny and apparently even the dang cat thought it was funny because he brought his catnip mouse over to my wife.
--I smiled and said look dear he wants to play…

A PICTURE WITH SANTA....12/22/15
--On a visit to the local farm and supply center recently for cat food. I happened across a announcement for a bring your pet in for a picture with Santa event they were having later that day.
--On the face of it sounded quite cute. And couldn't help but remind me of the first time we tried to take the children for a visit with Santa.
--Amazingly the older ones were ok with it. And my youngest didn't really want to leave the old fellow. My middle child just wouldn't have anything to do with the whole idea. And instead had to have her list handed to the old fellow.
--I tried to talk my wife into hanging around to see how the pets faired with the event. But we were running short of time.
--Of course when we were trying to make our way through the people waiting in line with their pets. It looked like old Santa was going to be in for some fun with that group of four legged little darlings....

CHRISTMAS CARTOONS....12/21/15
--Usually from the day after Halloween until the ball drops, we spend time getting re acquainted with all the old Christmas movies and specials we have enjoyed over the years. And of course any new ones that happen along.
--Lately their have been quite a few so in that department we have not been lacking.
--Of course along with the Christmas movies and specials there were those cartoons that we also enjoyed. Unfortunately as everyone has gotten older they are not up for that stroll down memory lane. So as I’m more than happy to find any excuse to watch a cartoon I usually spend a little time on Saturday morning watching a few old Christmas cartoons.
--Say what you will about cartoons. But myself I like quite a few of the older ones. And some of the songs I’ll take to humming when I find myself hitting a low point during the year.
--To me that’s what entertainment should be about. Something that makes you feel better when you reach the end. And takes your mind of your troubles for those few minutes you spend walking down that old memory lane path.
--But again that’s just me. I find life’s hard enough. Just spend 5 minutes going through the headlines of a daily news paper and if your don’t end up with a headache or shaking your head in wonder your a better person than I am.
--I find this little breaks watching old movies, specials and Christmas cartoons gives me enough of a mental recharge to continue on the road of this whack a doodle life. It may not be much but so far it seems to work....

CHRISTMAS CHILL....12/22/15
--One quick breath and your can feel the chirpiness in the air. The Christmas chill has arrived once again.
--Whether it's on a lonely roadside in the middle of nowhere or crowed shopping center waiting in line. It's getting colder and the chill follows close behind.
--Gone are the warm and fuzzy feeling of the impending day and the reality of the season starts nipping at our heals.
--your head starts to swim and you find yourself swaying on the edge of despair. Trying for the life of you to gather enough warmth for those few moments when your teeth start to a chattering.
--Myself I usually hunker down, count my blessings and try to remember like most things it'll pass. I just need to slow down a tad and keep my eye on the ball.
--The chill I’ve also found to be a two edge sword of sorts. But if I keep thing in perspective. I usually end up with a pretty good shot at weathering the storm.
--Of course when it does pass which it always does. What’s left is the beauty of the crispness and flowing blanket of white for a little icing on the cake.
--And even though it would be nice if it was a tad warmer even a crispy day has it's moments. Like all things it's usually how you look at it that helps the most....

CHRISTMAS GAMES WITH PET‘S....12/21/15
--Before I got married I never really put much thought into pets. That’s not to say I didn’t have any. It’s just that I never really put much thought into them.
--Of course getting married to a women who was and still is the pet whisper. Can do allot to a fellow. And one of those things is taking a look at pets in a new light.
--When the children came along so it seems did the endless line of pets. Everything from birds, to 400lb pigs. Each one with a different personality to boot.
--Right now our current little batch seems high on the personality department. and not much else sometimes.
--Myself I’ve never put much stock it games. Mostly because I’ve always tried to keep things pretty simple. Pets on the other hand are allot like people it seems when it comes to games. Everyone has their favorite. And will be more than happy to start a few rounds when ever they get a chance.
--In a perfect world I suppose everyone would get along and try to understand each other before flying off on a whack a doodle rant that usually ends up with the fur flying and allot of snapping to boot.
--Unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world. And as a result I often find myself in the middle a whack a doodle game or to with our little darling’s and the pets of course. It came make for some interesting times to say the lest.
--It’s amazing just how much patience it often requires just to get through the dang fool day sometimes. Especially around the Christmas season when everyone’s emotions are running a wee bit on the high side. But like all thing’s I find even when you think the well has run dry, there’s always seems to be a few drops left when it comes to dealing with the lovable little whack a doodle’s.
--Or perhaps after all these years I’m just to dang tired to raise a full head of steam about the little games. Either way a deep breath and a slow smile is about the most I can muster. And amazingly it works better than diving in with few rants of my own.
--Like all thing’s the games usually pass and everyone realizes they do in fact love each other. Inspire of themselves. And that’s what’s family about. Whether they be a bunch of whack a doodle pets or children in chicken little mode….

CHRISTMAS GIFT CHECK....12/11/15
--Usually it's good to find out if a gift needs accessories before it's opened and not after. I still remember a few Christmas morning drives looking for some place that was open to buy batteries and what not.
--Now after many years of trial and quite a few errors we keep a running list of what needs what. And if any thing needs to be charged before Christmas day.
--So far we've been lucky the last few years not to many Christmas morning mishaps. Unless you count giving cats catnip toys for Christmas, or dogs squeaky toys….

Christmas hourly sideshow...12/06/15
--Even though at times our family's pets can be a pain in the neck. There are times when we realize just why it is we keep them around.
--one of those times is the Christmas season. We have a clock in the kitchen that plays a Christmas jingle on the hour. Which in itself quite refreshing. But the pets response is what makes it all worth while.
--Every hour when the jingle starts the dogs will sing along and the cats will start racing around and dancing about. It's like a hourly sideshow, which is kind nice after a stress filled day...

Christmas is coming a perfect excuse to clean the house...12/06/15
--The perfect excuse for a good cleaning is a upcoming holiday. It drives everyone nuts but it also keeps thing’s interesting.
--When we first got married it would drive me nuts, the way my wife would change the furniture around. She'd send me to the store and I would come back to find everything changed around. I swear I spent the first 5 years of our marriage stumbling around walking into stuff.
--No matter how much I complained she'd just smile and say "Well how else am I going to get the dust bunnies".
--It took me awhile but I finally caught on. And it wasn't long before I was changing the furniture around on my own. which in turn would drive the children nuts.
--But like everything else they have learned how to adapt. And even lately have started to begin going through their rooms making ready for their Christmas booty…

Christmas light’s little island’s of hope…12/19/14
--I love Christmas lights at night their like little island’s of light in a sea of darkness. Not only do they light up the night for that moment or two that it takes you to pass them by in the car. But they remind me that there is hope in life, especially when life tries so hard to bring us down at time.
Christmas movie festival…12/23/14
--I like Christmas movies. Usually we start watching them right after Halloween and continue until just after new years. And on occasion we’ll even pop a few in in the middle of June or July even.
--Over the years we worn out more than our share of video tapes and DVD’s.
--At first my wife was what appeared to be an unwilling participant in out Christmas movie festival. Until she finally broke down and admitted she liked Christmas movies to.
--Our children have all grown up watching Christmas movies and Christmas themed cartoons. I know in this day and age it’s probably considered strange. But hey it brings us all together in the same room and these days that should be considered a miracle in it self….

CHRISTMAS MUSIC FILLS THE AIR....12/10/15
--Usually I don't really go out of my way to listen to a whole lot of music. and as I get older I find that the added distraction is just enough to derail what train of thought I might be on that'll take me days to recover.
--My wife on the other hand loves her music when were out and about, so we more or less compromise. She plays her music, and I hum along to my own little tunes.
--Of course around Christmas time it's a whole other story. It seems to be about the only kind of music we can agree on. So we usually sing along with gusto.
--And just in case we keep a few Christmas CD’s in the car for when even my wife can't stand what's playing on the radio.....

CHRISTMAS PROMISES....12/11/15
--When I was younger I made quite a few Christmas promises to myself that allowed me to survive the holidays at the time. Of course when I got married and had children fulfilling those promises in a world gone whack a doodle for the latest just got to have cant live with out syndrome was quite hard at times. But over the year we did the best we could.
--Sharing Christmas with children pets and a loving wife can be some of the most trying times or some of the best. Or a balance between the two of course.
--Unfortunately to often we get caught up in the got to have, can’t live with out syndrome that seems to plague us all at some point in our lives.
--Trying to function becomes a contest of will you sink or will you swim in the quicksand of the doldrums. Most often it's a teetering we go through the holidays. With the black cloud of despair following us until the ball drops and beyond. Instead of finding the comfort and joy of celebrating a special day of togetherness. We end up dreading the whole dang fool mess.
--Myself I try to keep it simple. The day is filled with as much love and understanding as we can muster. And we enjoy the time being gathered round sharing another holiday with each other.
--It probably goes against the norm but it seems to work for us. And if anything it brings us all just a little bit closer....

CHRISTMAS SEASON DELIGHTS....12/17/15
--Usually when the Christmas season comes around people are a little bit more open minded to things. So that’s when we try to get a few things accomplished. Like trying different foods, or just changing the old furniture around a bit.
--On top of shopping for presents and such it makes for a busy little month. But in the end it's worth it. Because nothing gets on your nerves quicker than a bad case of the same old same old. It’ll drag you down quicker than a pair of cement shoes in the middle of the ocean blue.
--Of course the children have gotten use to the whole ordeal over the years and don't really protest as much as they used to when they were younger. Which is why we really go for broke during the month of December.
--All in all it makes for a month filled with a lot of activity for everyone and in the when the old ball drops everybody's pretty much ready for a brand new year.....

CHRISTMAS SEASON LINES....12/10/15
--Waiting in line at Christmas time is usually fun. Of course myself a lines a line and I usually try to make the best of it. By carrying a book in my back pocket, or chatting with who ever’s with me. Or even trying to strike up a conversation with those of us in line. At Christmas time people are generally a tad more friendly so it helps a bit when trying to talk to them.
--The ones I have a hard time with are the people who go out of their way to step on others to get one step closer to the beginning of the line. It seems a shame to be so concerned with getting there first they forget the people they walked on to get there.
--Myself I always figured life was to short. And have been known to let people go before me on occasion. Especially if they only have a few things or what not.
--I always figured it only takes a second or two to be nice. What goes around comes around and all that.
--What those other people figure has always been a head scratcher for me but I guess it takes all kinds to keep this old world spinning. So usually I whisper a silent prayer for them and hope someday they see the light….

CHRISTMAS SEASON ROPE WALKING....12/06/15
--I love the holidays, Christmas the most because people usually take a few extra seconds and try to be nice for a change.
--Oh you get those few who just can't bring themselves to let go for fear they might actually feel something. But usually it's just a few.
--Which usually gives the rest of us a little breathing room to gather what mental recharge we can to make it through the rest of the year.
--Once in awhile you still find yourself on the ropes being wailed on by those hard core scrooges but there's just something about the Christmas season that takes the sting out of it all.
--Myself I think it's a shame some can't find it in themselves to think a few seconds before they act or speck. But it takes all kinds I guess to keep this old world of our singing. So I usually just say a few prayer's for the fools and go about my way. Humming Christmas songs and gathering what recharge I can before the ball drops on another shinny new year and it's back to the trenches we go....

CHRISTMAS SEASON SHENANIGANS.....12/06/15
--I’ll say one thing about cats and dogs. When it comes to Christmas and the whole season in general. They pretty much can't seem to figure out the difference and just go about there way doing what they do best. Trying it seems to drive me a little closer to the edge of nowhere.
--When it comes to late night shenanigans its a hey this is what we do type of deal. I guess its all part of the package when we choose to try to live with the four legged little gremlins.
--On a whole I try to be patient with the little fools. And they all pretty much know the quickest way to get my griddle corked.
--Some give me a brake and ease up around Christmas. And some just give me a look that say’s hey this is what I do deal with it.
--My wife of course just loves the little fools. As for myself I figure sooner or latter the little fools will get tired of trying impress me with their late night shenanigans and mellow out a bit. Of course I’m still waiting. But I suppose it could be worse. And to be honest they do have their moments.
--In the mean time its a Christmas season carousel around our place. With the constant cleaning and changing furniture around I figure I can keep the little fools dizzy enough they'll be to tired for late night shenanigans. I know its not much of a plan but their just something about cleaning to Christmas music that sets the mood for the house of whack a doodle that makes the whole thing almost fun....

CHRISTMAS SEASON STEAKS AND SEAFOOD....12/20/15
--About the only thing waffles is good at is barking. Of course He quite happy to display this without any coaching at all. Sometimes even late at night when He hears boogers with his little bat ears.
--About the only time it come in useful is when your running a vacuum and someone happens to knock at the front door. Then little waffles goes into banshee mode and has a good old time letting everyone know there’s someone out there.
--Fighting off the little whack a doodle to get the door open is a pain but luckily we have it down to a system. Not the best but if your persistent you'll usually overcome long enough to get the door open before who ever’s out there gets tired of waiting and decides to leave.
--Such was the case when the steak and seafood guy made his yearly appearance at our door.
--After getting through waffles I finally got the dang fool door open to find him standing there grinning from ear to ear. He seemed to have lost his train of thought because it took him a few moments to compose himself before he started his spiel. When He was done I said sorry, we couldn’t use any steak or seafood and instead offered him a guard dog for his truck. But he said no he had two at home and was quite sure that was enough.
--Of course when I came back in waffles was beside himself with joy that the door knocking booger hadn't taken me away. So I had to pat the little fool a couple of times to reassure him. Before I went back to cleaning and the next booger made a appearance. And the whole whack a doodle game had to be started over again….

CHRISTMAS SEASON SUNRISE WITH WAFFLES....12/15/15
--For some reason I thought it might be cool to take a pre-sunrise walk with waffles. Being that it won't be to long before the snow flies and then it'll be a contest just to keep upright let alone walk.
--I will say one thing about waffles he's got a one track mind. Go out do his business and then he wants to go back in the house. Walking around watching the sunrise he's not to interested in. In fact he spent most of the time remaindering me of just that fact. When the sun did finally show up, he was besides himself with joy.
--But it was fun watching all the pretty colors and humming a few Christmas songs. About the only ones who seemed remotely interested were my neighbors chickens and turkeys. Who were more than happy to join in. So I guess it wasn't a total loss.....

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING WITH A BACKWARDS TWIST...12/03/15
--Trying to find something special in the hodgepodge of limited availability within the walls of certain places is pretty dang hard. Around Christmas time it seem just about impossible.
--Walking through the isles it become more and more clear every year. The same old same old and a little less if that’s possible.
--Oh the boxes have changed a tad but its pretty much the same. A vast wonderland of plainness as far as he eye can see. So much for bigger is better I guess. Maybe people should of thought about that before the rush to jump at the merry Midas touch.
--I will say one thing if its exercise your after than bigger is sure as Sam hill better. Just covering half the dang fool place is guarantied to get the heart to fluttering. As for the other half its best to have a list handy because by the time your done there’s bound to be a bit of memory loss for sure.
--Oh and you might want to bring a good book to read because waiting for one of the two registers is bound to take awhile. Unless you take a whack at the do it yourself register. Where you get to save Mister bigger is better even more money so He can serve up even more of the same old same old. Your bound to be in for a even longer wait while they go through your receipt to make sure you rang up everything in your cart.
--I will say one thing over the past few years the majority of out Christmas shopping has been done at smaller stores that specialize is being original. Not being so dang fool big you need to carry a compass just to find your way out again.....

CHRISTMAS SMILES WARM THE CLOUDY DAYS....12/06/15
--Usually when its cold damp and rainy I’m not much for shopping. In fact just getting around the house is a pain in the neck. Let alone hobbling around a store with a cane or leaning on a shopping cart.
--But my wife enjoys it so I try to put all that aside and tag along. Besides any excuse to where my pink floppy winter hat and hum Christmas songs usually puts a little spring in my step. Even if I’m using a dang fool cane or leaning on those dang fool shopping carts.
--Of course it is the only time of year my wife doesn't really mind the hat. and the songs well she's pretty much accepted the fact the old brain pan has a few wires loose and has learned to make the best of it.
--Shopping in a store that seems to favor me me’s is a tad hard. But even then she just goes about her way.

CHRISTMAS SPECIALS....12/15/15
--My wife just shakes her head when running through the flyers around Christmas time. The season specials are printed up in such bright colors you can't miss them. Of course a lot of the stuff is a little out there when it comes to necessity. But I guess that’s the insanity of the season.
--Usually we keep it simple because not only is it relatively easy to prepare. We’ve been blessed with children who are quite rigid in their likes and dislikes.
--Once in awhile we'll throw together something totally different. And the resulting grumbling is really something to see. But after a bit they calm down and realize a little change can actually be good. And we end up with a different meal to prepare.
--Of course the best time to introduce something new to the little darlings is around the holidays. When their attention is occupied with other stuff…..

CHRISTMAS WRAPPING....12/16/15
--Wrapping Christmas presents has never really been my thing. Especially since I don’t think the person who receives the gift really looks at the dang fool wrapping to closely. Other than to check the tag and make sure it to them. How the gift is wrapped is really low on the list, when it comes to presents presentation. But maybe that’s just me.
--My wife will spend extreme amounts of time making sure everything is perfect. Right down to the placement to the name tag and the bows.
--Myself I find the paper to dang thin, and just really hard to work with. As a result I’m usually on tape detail. Which is ok unless you lose the end. And then you'll drive yourself whack a doodle crazy trying to find it again. Which usually is where I end up more time than I care to count.
--But like everything if we work together we usually get it done. And none the worse for wear. Sometimes even enjoying the whole experience to boot. Especially if I can talk my wife into putting a Hallmark movie in while we work....

HANGING STOCKING’S FOR CHRISTMAS....12/15/15
--Rounding up stocking's for Christmas and hanging them is always fun.
--Of course when you share the house with assorted pets you have to take in account their place in the chain of events.
--Apparently bug eyes my son's cat felt he needed a stocking to because after my wife got all the stocking's hung he found a sock and kept pestering her with it until she realized he wanted his hung up to.
--When she finally hung it with the rest of them he seemed quite happy.
--Now of course it's the first thing he checks every morning on his daily romps through the house. Who says cats are not like children....

HOLIDAY MIX UP....07/13/16
-For the life of me I don't know why but I spent the better part of the day humming and singing holiday songs. Maybe it's because I miss the holidays season where everyone seems more happy .
--Now my wife wasn't to impressed but I will say she has gotten used to my shenanigans.
--The weather was a tad warm and overcast, but it felt about right with a few holiday tunes in the air. It really is amazing what a little music does for a day .......

JINGLE BELL MIX UP....12/14/14
--I like Christmas songs, they have that something special that just makes the day go just right. That being said hearing Christmas songs in the middle of one of the hottest July's I can remember was just a tad offsetting . I don't know if it was somebody's idea of a joke. but it sure my day a little brighter.
--of course a lot of the people shopping weren't to impressed.
--I guess you can't please everybody .....

THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS....12/24/14
--Even though everyone is a wee bit older there's still excitement in the air on the day before Christmas. To some it's a welcome relief of all the rushing about. And no more of that dang fool Christmas music. With others the I can't wait and get that dang fool tree the Sam hill out of my living room. cause I’m tired of vacuuming up needle's usually comes up right about now.
--Like all thing's of course I’m pretty sure how you choose to look at things that matter the most. If your looking for a reason to condemn the season it's not hard to do. But if you take a step back it's also easy to find a few positives.
--Myself I’ll miss the whole season where the walls come down a bit and people are just a little bit friendlier. Where they exchange a greeting while passing by instead of playing with their dang fool do dad's. And actually smile instead the constant frowning of most of the year.
--But like all thing's it wont be long and it'll be back to the same old same old. And once again I’ll say my yearly prayer hoping people can find it themselves to take just a little Christmas cheer with them into the new year.....
--Like all thing's of course I’m pretty sure how you choose to look at things that matter the most. If your looking for a reason to condemn the season it's not hard to do. But if you take a step back it's also easy to find a few positives.

The last few days before Christmas…12/22/14
--The closer you get to Christmas the more the excitement builds. Everyone seems to be counting the days and minutes until the day is here.
--The shopper’s are out and about doing there last minute shuffle, and the bell ringer are ringing with added gusto.
--The driver’s are actually polite and waving you on, and not making a mad dash looking for a crash.
--The store clerks are smiling, and quite happy it seems, and not frowning and being down right mean.
--Now if we could only freeze time for a bit and let everyone enjoy these last few days before Christmas, maybe just maybe we might remember for the rest of the year.
--If I could have one wish granted for Christmas that would be it. That the Christmas spirit would hang around for the rest of the year. And everyone would try to remember it..

A BELLE FOR CHRISTMAS 2014
--Ok A BELLE FOR CHRISTMAS probably wasn’t the best Christmas holiday movie out there, but it did have it’s moments and for that alone I’d give it a 10 on my scale. It was a funny heart warming movie that you could actually enjoy and not have to worry about the writers getting bored and throwing in a bunch of mindless scenes that only the preteen crowd seems to understand.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 A BELLE FOR CHRISTMAS deserves a big old 10, if your looking for a safe movie to watch for the whole family it’s a good bet.

CHRISTMAS DEALS AND LITTLE TREASURES….
--Finding that little something special for that certain someone seems to be getting harder and harder every year. Of course it might be a tad easier if everything wasn’t the same old same old every year.
--But with patience and a watchful eye it is possible to find those little treasure. I guess that just means we have to work a little harder.

CHRISTMAS TIME SHUFFLE.
--On a whole I love the Christmas time season, the miracle of a period of time where people are actually nicer and will take a second to help out their fellow man is just amazing as all get out to me. Of course these are the same people who hours after giving thanks are banging away at the shopping aisles looking for those fabulous sales to make their Friday’s special and not so black.
--I did find it amazing when I was out and about the other day to find that apparently Christmas has a limited attention span for retailer because 8 days before Christmas their already putting up Valentines merchandise. Talk about your Christmas time shuffle.
--But I guess it could be worse at lest we got to enjoy a we bit of Christmas before the shuffle began.

CAROL CHRISTMAS 2003
--I always enjoy watching new adoptions of CHRISTMAS CAROL and this one didn’t fail to disappoint. I found it to be funny and heartwarming and the ending was just perfect.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this adoption CAROL CHRISTMAS a 10 and plan on watching it again next year.
CHRISTMAS AT CARTWRIGHT’S 2014
--I really liked CHRISTMAS AT CARTWRIGHT’S even though it’s a tired and true formula for holiday movies it seems, the excellent cast makes the whole thing work with flying color’s.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS AT CARTWRIGHT’S a big old 10 and plan on making a place for it on our Christmas holiday movie list to watch yearly.

SCROOGED 1988
--We liked SCROOGED the first time we saw it and have continued to love it even more in our yearly viewings. The cast is of course quite good and the whole atmosphere generated by the movie is right on the nail. But the best part is of course the ending where it all comes together.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 We give SCROOGED a big old 10, we watch it a couple of times a year usually when the old spirit needs a bit of a boost.

CHRISTMAS CLOCK WAKE UP....09/17/15
--Pouring coffee half awake is all right as long as you remember the dribble effect. You know that design enhancement they put into every pot where if you don't pour mind numbingly slow you'll dribble half the dang fool thing all over the place.
--Everything thing was going pretty good this morning. Had one eye open because the other one just didn't want o wake up just yet. Managed to add the right amount of scoops, and water. And even managed to hit the switch without a hitch.
--Even got to the point where my cup was half full when that dang fool Christmas clock went off and started banging away at some dang fool version of a Christmas coral. It seems I forgot I’d just replaced the batteries the other day.
--Of course the dog started howling and the kittens went whack a doodle crazy. Jerry lee and gandoll just opened one eye and gave me such a look. as I poured coffee all over the place but in my cup. Which probably wouldn't have been so bad but half of it went down the front of me.
--Of course any other person probably would of lost it right there. But not me. I put the pot back and finished howling along with the dang fool dog to the Christmas coral.
--Waffles just looked at me like I was nuts. So I took a bow and told him I’d be back in a hour for a encore.
--When I came back in the living room my wife just looked at me and shook her head as she sipped her coffee. I guess after all these years she's pretty much grown accustomed to my brand of whack a doodle ness.....

Christmas wrapping paper blues..12/12/14
--Wondering around a local department store at Christmas time can be quite the adventure. The stores packed with loads of people, all looking for their what knots and do dads. And if your not careful it’s very easy to become frustrated, by blocked isles ,packed with chatting customers.
--I once was held hostage by a roving band that seemed to be following me. After getting the whatever it was I was after, I found that no matter what isle I tried to get down they were all blocked.
--After ten minutes of trying to outdistance them I decided this was getting me no where. So I stopped and waited I figured sooner or later they’d move on and I’d be free.
--Well it wouldn’t have been so bad I guess , if my detention was in an area that could hold my interest. But I really didn’t like being held hostage in the Christmas trim a tree section. I mean you can look at just much Christmas wrapping paper and decorations before it starts to get to you. But I tried my best to enjoy myself, so I started humming Christmas songs.
--After about twenty minutes my wife finally found me lugging a arm load of stuff. With a flustered sigh she dropped her stuff in the cart, and looked me and shakes her head. And says, ”I looked all over the store and couldn’t find you. Then I heard two lady’s talking about the crazy man wearing a pink hat singing Christmas songs in the wrapping paper section . So I figured I better get over here before your were picked up by store security.”
--I just smiled and said, ”and you said my pink hat wasn’t useful…”

CHRISTMAS TREES AND CATS....12//15/15
--Cats love to climb trees. even ones that are decorated with Christmas do dads. In fact some cats seem to think Christmas trees are a two for apparently. A tree with pretty little cats toys attached.
--Such is the case with little old bug eyes. Every morning so far we've had to spend a fair amount of time picking the dang fool ornaments up.
--The funny thing is no matter how much you scold the little fool he just goes right back at it again.
--Luckily we've learned a few things over the years like tying the dang fool tree to the wall so the cats can't tip it over.....

CLOUDY CHRISTMAS SEASON AFTERNOON....12/20/15
--Cleaning is a pain in the neck. Cleaning to the sound and delights of Christmas not so much.
--Funny thing about Christmas music it seems to bring out the cheerfulness in just about everybody.
--Even the hardcore hermits have a tendency to get a little lively when the old Christmas music starts playing.
--I mentioned to my wife she might not want to loose that CD when Christmas was over. She just smiled and showed me where she put the CD case, right next to the CD player. With the other little darling she likes to play on occasion.
--I’ll say one thing for my wife she catches on right quick....

LIFE'S LITTLE CHRISTMAS SEASON BLESSINGS....12/20/15
--One of the many reasons I like Christmas, and believe everyday day another reason seems to pop up. So the list keeps growing. Is the little blessings that happen along the way.
--Now being a somewhat simple minded fellow has over the years been both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because I’ve always tried to keep things pretty much simple in how I look at things. The curse well in a world filled with people and circumstances that want to do nothing but make things as complicated as possible the two don't fit together very well.
--Over the years this has lead to many problem. Some way beyond my control. And some just a matter on how you look at things.
--I love the Christmas season because it's a chance for some breathing room where life’s little blessing are more easily noticeable. And often not over looked. Something I try real hard to carry over into the new year.
--When I became a parent I always went out of my way to try to make a point of showing my children this. Which at times has been hard in this now now now society. But like everything with a little patience I find it is possible to turn the tide for even a little while.
--Even now I’m noticing some of their perspectives have over the years have changed a tad to take into account many of life’s little blessing found along the road of life.
--My wife can attest to this fact, when she accuses me of never worrying about things. It not that I don’t worry because I do. It's just that I try to keep what limited time I have to doing the best I can with what I have.
--Some things beyond my control I’m forced by necessity to let go of. And turn them over to a prayer or to for somebody else to handle. Otherwise I’ll find myself wallowing around under a black cloud.
--Of course the things I can do something about I take care of with gusto and have more good days as a result.
--It’s not a perfect system but one it’s taken me many years of trail and error to perfect. And for some whack a doodle reason it seems to work.
--I guess even old pink hat wearing fools can learn a few new tricks from time to time….

LIVING ROOM CHRISTMAS LIGHTS....12/12/15
--When the children were little, we decorated the living room with Christmas lights. My wife was more than happy to point out that most people put the things on the outside of there house.
--My response was of course oh pooh. Just because most people do something doesn’t mean I have to. If anything it generally means I’ll head in the other direction. Besides the children loved the dang fool things and that was why I did it in the first place.
--Well over the years we kept up the tradition until it in itself became our norm. I guess that’s how thing’s change. A little bit at a time.
--Of course having Christmas lights hanging in the living room also drives the poor old cats bonkers. And that’s a two for in my book. So I guess the tradition here to stay for awhile at least....

CALL ME CLAUS 2001
--I thought CALL ME CLAUS was a very nice funny and heartwarming holiday Christmas movie. Of course we’ve seen the whole thing a few times before but it was still a nice little movie because it seems each new cast with the same old story brings a little something extra to the process.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CALL ME CLAUS a 10, it’s a nice way to spend time with the whole family.

BACK TO CHRISTMAS / CORRECTING CHRISTMAS 2014
--For the life of me I can’t figure out why in Sam hill they keep changing the dang fool titles on some of these holiday movies. It’s not like it really makes a difference either you like them or you don’t. In the case of BACK TO CHRISTMAS or CORRECTING CHRISTMAS I liked them both because their the same dang fool movie something I found out when I bought CORRECTING CHRISTMAS thinking I had a new Christmas movie. I found it to be a very funny heartwarming movie when I first watched it as BACK TO CHRISTMAS.

BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS 2012
--BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS was a delight, but then again it’s always a delight to watch two people try for the sake of family to mend fences. It makes for some interesting entertainment. I found the movie to be a little bit of everything a little sad, with lots of funny and heartwarming moments in between.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give BABY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS a big old 10 and plan for it to have a place on our holiday Christmas movie list for many years to come.

ANGELS SING 2013
--I thought ANGELS SING was bound to be a Christmas classic holiday movie after the first five minutes. It had all the Christmas holiday magic and was full of holiday spirit right from the get go. And of course the rest of the movie wasn’t bad either.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give ANGELS SING a big old 10, and plan for it to have a permanent place on our Christmas holiday movie list.

CHRISTMAS SHENANIGANS WITH KITTENS….
--Generally kittens can be a bit of fun to handle if you spell fun mischief then you’ll be right up kitten alley. The little darlings can make a game out of just about nothing and make a mess doing it.
--Of course throw a Christmas tree into the mix and it’s a recipe for certain disaster. Luckily all the glass ornaments are gone, the victims of cats and kittens past. But it is a tad tiring trying to keep the old Christmas tree decorated.
--But I suppose it could be worse and it’s amazing how much more dust you can get of a artificial Christmas tree when you knock the dang fool thing over about a dozens times a day.
--And redecorating is always fun, now if I can just convince my wife it calls for some Christmas cookies it could be a swell old time…..

GHOSTS OF CHRISTMAS’S PAST….
--Like whispering little gremlins they play about and around the old Christmas tree causing mischief and general hooliganism with their shenanigans.
--But like everything with a bit of patience and a blind ear to their games it is possible to survive their malicious mischief. But it does takes it toll on a fellow’s Christmas spirit, fortunately theirs plenty in the air so a recharge isn’t a problem.
--And of course to be honest recognizing the little darling for who and what they are takes a bit of the sting out of their monkey business, and leaving them pretty much defenseless to the old Christmas spirit…

THE CHRISTMAS ESCAPE....12/12/15
--Myself I love it when it's the Christmas Season time of year where it's ok to be friendly. And actually looked upon as being with the season.
--Any other time of the year if you smile at some people to much they think your a tad of your track and quickly gather their young about them and scamper off to safety.
--But at Christmas people seem to spend less time hovering over their phones, while they wonder about. And actually have smiles on their faces. Which makes it kind of nice when you pass by with a howdy or two.
--It's almost as if for a time they've allowed the walls to come down on their self imposed prisons and let a little sunshine in.
--Of course it would be nice if they wouldn't be so quick to throw them back up when the ball drops. But maybe if they get enough sun during the Christmas Season they'll realize it's ok to leave a crack or two.
--In the mean time I say a few prayers for those that don't and keep smiling at those that do.....

THE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT….12/18/14
--It seems to me that the Christmas spirit manifests itself in many different ways, in many different people.
--We all know about the kindness it brings out in total stranger's towards one another. Or the unrewarded acts of kindness, like dropping a present of for toys for tots' or what not.
--But what about the polar opposite, of giving. Yeah you know the rampart stinginess, or the person who wants and wants more around Christmas because they know it's the season for giving and it's just as good an excuse as any for not mending their ways.
--To these people I really recommend watching their P's and Q's. Because the universe has a way of keeping track of these transgressions. And payback will surly find you.
--In the mean time I'll say a Christmas prayer for you and hope you find the Christmas spirit before it's to late...

--To these people I really recommend watching their P's and Q's. Because the universe has a way of keeping track of these transgressions. And payback will surly find you.
--In the mean time I'll say a Christmas prayer for you and hope you find the Christmas spirit before it's to late...
THE OLD MAN IN THE PAINTING….01/15/15
--We used to have a painting hanging in our living room of a white cottage in garden. It was pretty and everyone loved it.
--One night on the way back from the bathroom I noticed for the first time there was an old man starring out of the window in the front door. Not thinking any thing of it at the time I went back to bed.
--The next day while vacuuming I happen to glance at the painting and you guessed it there was no old man.
-I mention it to my wife, and she just smiled and said she’s never seen an old man in the painting. While I let it go. And caulked it up to being half asleep and never thought any more about it until the next night on the way back from the bathroom.
--The old man was there again, only this time he was waving trying to get my attention. While I starred at the painting for awhile and then went back to bed.
--And yes the next day there was no old man in the painting.
--Well this went on for about a week, and then it stopped finally. I figured the old man had delivered his message and gone about his way.
--Awhile after that I was informed my grandfather has passed away. When I informed the person telling me that I had already gotten the news they seemed a little perplexed but never bothered to ask and I didn’t bother to explain….

WAITING FOR THE CHRISTMAS MAGIC TO WORK IT'S SPELL...12/20/15
--Being parent usually calls for two sides of the equation. Of course that would be ideal. Most of the time lately I find myself shaking my head and whispering a prayer or two while I wait patiently for the old Christmas spirit to work it's magic on those few who stick hard and fast to their steadfast ways.
--Each year I hope it will be the one, and each year it seems to be the same.
--I imagine when it does happen it'll be a Christmas Carol moment. and everyone will be filled with the magic of the season.
--In the mean time I’ll keep whispering my prayers waiting for the magic of the season to work....

ALONE FOR CHRISTMAS 2013
--I loved all the HOME ALONE MOVIES and yeah I loved this one to. ALONE FOR CHRISTMAS/ BONE ALONE was a very funny holiday movie and bound to be a holiday classic as far as I’m concerned.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give ALONE FOR CHRISTMAS a 10, and already plan for it to be on our holiday Christmas movie list for many years to come.

A PERFECT CHRISTMAS LIST 2014
--I liked A PERFECT CHRISTMAS LIST and thought it was both funny and heartwarming. I found it sad that the mother and daughter needed a third party to fix their relationship. But sometimes I guess it takes a outside force to set things straight.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give A PERFECT CHRISTMAS LIST a 10, it was a nice movie for the holidays.

A CHRISTMAS MYSTERY 2014
--I liked A CHRISTMAS MYSTERY even though it really wasn’t a holiday movie it still made for some nice entertainment. The big mystery was kind of interesting, and everything worked out in the end so it made for a entertaining time and that’s what count when you looking for a movie I guess.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give A CHRISTMAS MYSTERY a 10 and plan on it being placed on our mystery movie list for the year.

A CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE…FROM A BOOK CALLED WISELY’S TALES 2001
--Much to my wife’s head shaking I still like to watch a occasional cartoon, as everyone has gotten older I try to keep our cartoons around holiday viewing. T thought A CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE FROM THE BOOK CALLED WISELY’S TALE was nice and at time very funny and heartwarming. It would have been just the type of cartoon I would have let my children watch when they were growing up. Of cause now that their a bit older they weren’t to interested but I found it very entertaining and plan on making a place for it on our holiday Christmas viewing list. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a big old 10...

YARD SALE CHRISTMAS LIGHT BLUES….11/27/14
--First all I want to state I love my wife. She is without a doubt an original. She has blessed me with four wonderful children who have proven my mothers curse wasn't a joke put a foretelling of the future to come. "I hope you have children who are just like you." And like I said she got her wish. thanks ma.
--Now that I've cleared up that let's get to the point. Like I said I love my wife, expect around Christmas time when they put the lights on stuff and when it is yard sale season. Then something happens to that darn fool women that I just can't figure. It’s like she becomes possessed by another person. One who can be driving along one minute carrying on a conversation, and the next minute slamming on the brakes and backing up because she saw or thought she saw a yard sale.
--Which doesn't sounds so bad until you try riding with the fool. I mean sometimes my in sides are still bouncing around 5-10 min after we've stopped. Not to mention the rapid take of, if it should turn out it wasn't a yard sale, or if it was and she didn't see anything worth stopping for. And then it's off in search of another one.
--Christmas time it's just the opposite, it's not the stopping it's the wondering all over the darn road. It's not so bad if there on the passenger side then all have to worry about is a snow bank or to. But God forbid their on the drivers side, cause then I have to remind to stay on her side of the road.
--But that being said I love to see the light in her eye's when she sees the Christmas light's. Especially when the kids are in the car. Or when she's on the trail of a real good sale. There's nothing like it. It's just one of the many reason's I love my wife....

WHERE DID ALL THE CHRISTMAS SPECIALS GO...12/24/14
--Part of the reason we like watching Christmas movies I think is because of the lack of holiday specials, and Christmas themed shows on network TV.
--It used to be the days after Thanksgiving were a filled with specials and Christmas themed TVs shows. But now what's passes for a holiday special, or themed shows just isn't up to those of the past.
--My wife and I solved this problem by video taping a lot of the older shows when they were first run. So we can still watch them on occasion. But I feel sorry for a lot of the younger generation who will miss out on so much decent entertainment. Unless of course they find it on you tube or spring for a DVD or two....

WORST CAT CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER….12/10/14
--I’d like to get my hands on the person who came up with the idea of giving cats catnip toys for Christmas. Just to sit them down and explain a few of the facts of life.
--You don’t give children chocolate bar’s and sweets before bed, and you don’t give cats catnip toys and expect to get much sleep.
--It been my experience that cats don’t need a reason to act goofy. Give them a bottle cap and they’ll drive themselves insane batting the darn thing around, until they’ll finally fall asleep somewhere for a little catnap. Only to wake up five minutes later and start the whole thing all over again.
--Children aren’t much better when it comes to chocolate. Take the most sweetest child and give them a chocolate bar and watch the fun start. They get down right goofy running around acting like minions from some world plant here for a little vacation before the invasion starts.
--Like I said before Cats are like kids. Now you’ll have to excuse me cause I really need to hide the chocolate, and find those dad burn catnip toys before the cats wake up from their nap….

WAFFLES AND THE SINGING CHRISTMAS DOLLS...12/24/15
--It really doesn’t take much to get waffles going. Turn the vacuum cleaner on and watch him start to go into banshee mode barking like a fool.
--Hang a Christmas clock that plays Christmas music every hour and listen to him howl every hour to the coral being played.
--Set a Christmas doll in the kitchen and he just about looses his little mind.
--For some reason the dang fool dog does not like anything different. About the only time he is quiet is when he is sleeping. But usually that’s only for a little while because he'll wake up growling at thin air.
--I suppose it could be worse. At lest he's a some what happy little fellow most of the time. And is more than ready to let you know how happy he is to see you when you come back from being out and about.....

A HEARTLAND CHRISTMAS 2010
--I loved the HEARTLAND TV show when I first saw it and I really liked A HEARTLAND CHRISTMAS. The background scenery makes a excellent backdrop for a heartwarming family movie.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give A HEARTLAND CHRISTMAS a 10, and think it makes a nice addition to nice TV show series.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL 2009
--To be fair a PG rated DISNEY movie should have been warning enough when we first sat down to watch A CHRISTMAS CAROL but it really wasn’t . It’s not that the movie was really scary it was just that some of the scenes were a bit over powering for young children I thought. It was a fine retelling of a holiday classic and we have watched many times over the years.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give A CHRISTMAS CAROL a 10, I really wouldn’t let small children watch it because of the PG rating of course, but also because some of the dang fool scenes were a bit over powering for a holiday Christmas movie.

ALL AMERICAN CHRISTMAS CAROL 2013
--Even though I usually enjoy the different adoptions they make of CHARLES DICKENS CHRISTMAS CAROL I found this one a little hard to take. While it was entertaining at times it never really hit the holiday movie mark for me. Of course the rest of the family loved the dang fool movie and have insisted on watching it for the last few years.
--On a scale of 1` to 10 I guess you could say we give ALL AMERICAN CHRISTMAS CAROL a 10 and watch it yearly in our holiday Christmas movies.

12 MEN OF CHRISTMAS 2009
-I found 12 MEN OF CHRISTMAS despite the title to be a rather funny and heartwarming movie at times. Although it’ll probably be awhile before we watch it again I do plan on finding a place for it on our holiday Christmas movie list.

LEARNING TO SLEEP WITH A QUILT.... 12/29/15
--One of the hardest thing's I ever had to do when I was a child was learn how to sleep with a quilt. Oh they were warm as all get out, and greatly appreciated especially on a frosty night. The fact that the weighed what seemed like 5 tons and made it tad hard to move around was a bit much to over come at times. But if you worked really hard you could do it. Otherwise you just enjoyed the cocoon of warmth and fell fast asleep.
--Little did I know at the time of course that the search for warmth on frosty winter nights would be a life long quest. Perhaps I would have spent more time enjoying the cocoon and not fighting to be free.
--Like all could haves, would haves, and should haves you can't do much about the past. Just try and learn from it.
--Something I have tried to share with my children over the years. Which wasn't the easiest thing to do in a world that seems to have a fondness of trying to rewrite the past to something their more conformable with.
--I will say one thing as time goes on sooner or later even reality filters through rose colored glasses. But hey what do I know I'm just a old pink hat wearing fool wishing he had a quilt cover his old bones with on a frosty night Instead of what passes for a blanket these days.....

A Christmas prayer for the scrooges of the world..12/19/14
--Sometimes I wonder about people who never seem to take the time to take a minute think before they speck or act. It always amazes me as to the justification they come up with for their actions. And never once taking in consideration the consequences their act’s or action’s have for other people. I can’t help but feel sorry for them, their missing out on so much that life has to offer.
--And even though it’s hard I try to keep a open mind and say a little prayer for them. That maybe for this little period time known as the Christmas season they might let the Christmas spirit in. And feel some of the joy and peace of the season.
--I know it’s not much but it’s about all anyone can ask for those people who go out of their way to rain on other people’s Christmas.
--So here’s hoping and praying for those that can’t or won’t let the Christmas spirit in. And maybe they’ll find the Christmas spirit before it’s to late..

A BIT OF THE OLD DAY'S....09/10/15
--For some reason listening to a TV program at night while trying to sleep reminds me of the old days when we used to huddle around the radio listening to radio shows late at night.
--For some reason the radio station where we lived would only play the Dang Fool thing's late at night. So I’d spend hour's getting it in enough so everybody could hear them. We all enjoyed them while they lasted. Which unfortunately was for a short time.
--But there was something about hearing the spoken word without all added weight of the picture's that helped us form the them from our imagination. Which helped us all later in life I guess.
--I know for one thing all my children have taken to listening to TV shows and old radio shows for that matter. And as far as imagination their stacked to the gills with it. I don’t know if it's because of old radio shows or the fact that I let them listen to old cartoons while they slept. But I know it sure helped as they navigated the ups and downs of life.
--Guess that's why I like listening to a good old romantic comedy while I sleep. Life‘s hard enough sometimes it just nice to go to sleep smiling....

COMFORT AND JOY....02/04/16
--For some dang fool reason as we get older we seem to forget that. Which is a shame.
--Some of the greatest moments of my life have been the most simplest things. It was not until recently that I was able to fully understand this unfortunately.
--But like everything in life it seems with a little patience, and keeping a open mind. The possibilities can be greatly revealing if we listen....
HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS 2000
--We liked HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS when it first came out. Of course the children were a lot younger then, but I notice when we watch they all sit for their favorite spots, so I guess that’s what counts. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS is filled with so many funny heartwarming moments it’s kind of hard to pick your favorite.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS a big old 10 and it has found a permanent place on our Christmas movie list.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS 2014
--I was disappointed with HAPPY CHRISTMAS I was expecting a bit more of a holiday movie, not the usual R rated mishmash. Of course what followed was a movie I had to fast-forward through most of.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give HAPPY CHRISTMAS a 1, it was pretty bad.

CHRISTMAS LODGE 2010
--If it hadn’t been for the fact that I like Christmas movies I probably wouldn’t have made it to the end of CHRISTMAS LODGE it’s not that it’s a bad movie it’s just that what chemistry there was seemed to be provided by the background scenery. But like I said I like Christmas movies and I have a tendency to give them a extra shot going in, which in the case of CHRISTMAS LODGE was a good thing because it was a nice movie in it’s own way and I guess that’s what counts with a holiday movie.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS LODGE a 9, it’s a little hard to watch at times but it’s well worth it.

THE SANTA BABY MOVIES
--I liked the SANTA BABY MOVIES although I wish they could of gotten to whole cast from the first movie for the second but it all worked out pretty good and was really entertaining so I guess that’s what counts.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give THE SANTA BABY MOVIES a big old 10 their fun for the whole family if you can drag the little darling away from their do dads long enough.

DUSTING OF THE CHRISTMAS TREE....12/03/15
--When the children were younger we tried the live tree thing. It went pretty well until the dang fool needles started falling. Then we decided it might be best to try a fake one rather then spent the rest of the year vacuuming up needles. And buying new vacuum cleaners.
--While this enabled us to put up and take down the tree with relative ease. We all still missed the old real tree. So we decided to buy one we could plant in the yard after Christmas was over.
--This worked out quite well until a flock of months ate the dang fool needles and we had to cut the things down. Now were stating over again with the fake tree.
--But of course being that were running out of room in our little tiny house and really don’t have a place to store it we pretty much leave it up all year round.
--So every year we have to un-decorate it vacuum it off and redecorate it. Which is kind of fun. Even though there’s a bit of grumbling you can tell from the twinkling in their eyes they still enjoy helping decorate the Christmas tree.
--It seems to be one of the few things that will get even the most harden ones out of their caves. That and dinner time of course....
EARLY MORNING CHRISTMAS CHEER....12/16/15
--Generally mornings are a pain in the neck. What with trying to drink coffee and getting the kinks out of the old bones. It just makes for a rough few moments of the day.
--Being the Christmas season makes it a tad easier. Because along with starting the coffee pot I pop in a CD of some Christmas music and wake up while waiting for the dripping bean.
--Of course like everything when it comes to Christmas music you have to weed out the dark and brooding little darling’s. Because if it's one thing I don't need in the morning is a reminder's life can be a pain in the neck.
--Over the years I’ve patiently gathered a bunch of feel good Christmas CD’s and these are the ones we usually play around the house.
--My wife laugh's because she knows all about it and pretty much agrees. Music should make you feel better not like your slowly being ground down by yet another opposing force.
--The only time she gets a tad upset is when I pop a Christmas CD in in the off season. But she'll look the other way for awhile as she sings along. Because even she can see the effect of the uplifting lyrics on the upcoming day.....

FRONT YARD ANGEL....09/24/15
--While out and about the other day we passed a yard that had a giant stone angel in the side yard. It was really quite stunning with the sunrise casting a reddish glow over it’s majestic wings.
--Apparently the animals thought so to there was a deer, a half dozen squirrels, 2 geese, and what looked like a couple of black birds and Robbins resting on the angels wings.
--When we came back after the sun went down, you could just make out the shadow of the angel. It sure made me wonder if the animals were still hanging about. For some reason I had the feeling if not they were nearby waiting for the morning sunrise.
--Of course my wife thought the whole thing was cool until I told her I wanted to get one for out yard. She said I’m sure it would be nice but do you really think we need to attract any more animals. I had to concede the point. We all ready have a steady stream of whack a doodle visitors to our yard. Putting a 6ft angel out there would probably just open the flood gates.....

GUARDIANS OF THE FLAME….11/29/14
--I love holidays for the simple reasons it gives the family an excuse to come together. Not that we need much of an excuse, but sometimes a reminder or two helps.
--In our day to day lives we become so involved in just trying to survive the ups and downs of this crazy old world, we forget the foundation from which we grew. The Family.
--The one place where we know were always welcome, and there’s always plenty of room, and a light always on, in case we need to pop over in the middle of the night.
--Over the years my wife and I have tried to let our children know this for a fact. It’s been hard bucking the me, me, me trend of life. But we keep trying.
--While our Holidays are not actually Hallmark moments it is nice to have everyone under the same roof for the few short hours of the day . Before they are once again off to their own corners of their own little worlds. Leaving my wife and I here as guardians of the flame of Family…
CHRISTMAS IN JULY 1940
--I found CHRISTMAS IN JULY in a yard sale free box the video tape had gotten wet apparently and nobody wanted it. I took it home and cleaned it up and dried it of and found a delightful heartwarming Christmas classic that we have watched for quite a few years. I guess it just proves that sometimes the things we enjoy the most are the things we have to work the hardest for.
--On the scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS IN JULY a big old 10, it’s fun for the whole family and has given us quite a few years of enjoyment.

CATCH A CHRISTMAS STAR 2013
--CATCH A CHRISTMAS STAR was a nice holiday movie with plenty of heartwarming moments to keep everything moving right along. The chemistry of the cast was what made the movie enjoyable as far as I’m concerned. I will say that the young girls that played the daughters had cuteness to spare, and made the movie a added delight.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CATCH A CHRISTMAS STAR a big old 10 and plan to find a place for it on our Christmas movie list for many years to come.

ABOMINABLE CHRISTMAS 2013
--Even though ABOMINABLE CHRISTMAS is a cartoon I found it to be well written and something I could watch and have a good time doing so. Of course watching cartoons used to be much easier when the children were younger. Now it seems the only cartoons we watch is the holiday ones which is probably a shame because there is a good share of cartoons that are very well written out there.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give ABOMINABLE CHRISTMAS a big old 10, it filled with heartwarming family fun that should be shared with the whole family

A SEASON FOR MIRACLES 1999
--A SEASON FOR MIRACLES was a nice heartwarming holiday movie with so much chemistry it left you wanting to believe in miracles and angels. I always loved Patty Duke and it was one of the reason I started watching the movie, of course the reason I stayed was because of the whole cast chemistry while telling a amazing story of love hope and holiday spirit.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give A SEASON OF MIRACLES a 10 it’s a movie I love watching with the whole family.

PETE’S CHRISTMAS 2013
--I liked PETE’S CHRISTMAS of cou8rse I liked GROUNDHOGS DAY and just about all the clones that have followed over the years. I love seeing how people slowly realize that fate is a real fickle factor in most of our lives and most of the time we don’t even realize it.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give PETE’S CHRISTMAS a 10, it’s a little rough to start but the rides worth it if you can hang in there.

CHRISTMAS WITH HOLLY 2012
--CHRISTMAS WITH HOLLY was a very nice holiday movie that makes you want to believe in miracles. Which is just about what a holiday movie should do. There were so many heartwarming moments that by the end of the movie you feel refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to face the whack a doodle world again.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS WITH HOLLY a big old 10 and definitely plan for it to find it’s way onto our Christmas holiday movie list for many years to come.

THANKSGIVING HOUSE 2013
--THANKSGIVING HOUSE wasn’t exactly a Christmas movie but it was a holiday movie so I guess that’s how it ended up on our Christmas movie list. I thought THANKSGIVING HOUSE was a fun heartwarming movie for the holidays. It had all the right stuff to help that turkey settle and bring family and friends closer together which is what a good holiday move should do.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give THANKSGIVING HOUSE a big old 10 and plan on keeping it on our holiday Christmas movie list for a long time to come.

SILVER BELLS 2005
--SILVER BELLS was a nice movie, but I had a few reservations with the whole Son gets mad at Father so He runs away to make a name for Himself in the big city. Normally I like my holiday movies to be a tad more upbeat and the only reason I finished the dang fool movie was because HALLMARK made it and so far they haven’t let me down when it comes to good family entertainment. Fortunately the movie worked out and it ended with everybody happy.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give SILVER BELLS a 7.5 it didn’t really feel all that much like a holiday movie and I really don’t like holiday movies I have to work so hard to watch. We may watch it again but it will not be any time soon.

ROYAL CHRISTMAS 2014
--I don’t know I liked A ROYAL CHRISTMAS even though you knew from the start there was going to be a happy ending it was fun watching it come about. At times I found A ROYAL CHRISTMAS to be funny, heartwarming and a bit sad in places but thankfully it settled down and let the story progress without all the dang fool drama.
--On a scale of 1 to10 I give A ROYAL CHRISTMAS a big old 10, and plan for it to be on our Christmas movie list for many years to come.

MERRY EX- MAS 2014
--Ok I thought MERRY EX-MAS was kind of cute, but it did seem a little wooden at times. But once I sat back and tried to enjoy the movie I found it kind of charming and kind of funny. I think they could of put a little more effort into some parts, and maybe a little less effort in other parts. But it was a nice movie and a pleasant way to spend some time with the family.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give MERRY EX-MAS a 10,it was a nice holiday movie and a rather nice movie to watch with the family.

CHRISTMAS IN BOSTON 2005
--I liked CHRISTMAS IN BOSTON but I did find a couple of spots that I had to fast forward through. While tame compared to the type of rough edges out there I just didn’t think they belonged in a holiday movie. Other than that I thought it was a cute movie and rather easy to watch.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS IN BOSTON a 8, it had a couple of spots that I had to fast forward through but other than that I thought it was a pleasant holiday movie.

CHRISTMAS FOR A DOLLAR 2013
--I thought CHRISTMAS FOR A DOLLAR was a really nice movie that was more about the true meaning of Christmas than all the hype. It was very heartwarming and I for one plan to make sure it finds a place on our Christmas movie list that we watch yearly. It’s nice to find a movie that reminds of the holidays true meaning and can be entertaining to boot.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS FOR A DOLLAR a big old 10 it’s really a old fashioned family movie in a shinny new box.

CHRISTMAS MAGIC 2011
--I liked CHRISTMAS MAGIC I found it a little confusing at the start but after a few minutes things became clear and everything moved right along. It was a very nice movie for the holidays and the ending was of course a perfect. But then again what else would you expect for a holiday movie classic in the running.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS MAGIC a 10, it’s a very nice movie. I probably wouldn’t let little children watch it but the rest of the family should find plenty of entertainment.

CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER 2013
--I liked CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER, allow there were parts I didn’t really agree with and thought they were more suited to a movie of the week than a holiday movie. Over all it all balanced out and I found it a very heartwarming movie.
--On a scale of 1 to 10 I give CHRISTMAS WITH TUCKER a 10, but I probably wouldn’t let small children watch it. The rest of the family should find some entertaining moments.
