--When the grass gets a certain length it's very easy to loose thing in the yard. That's why I guess people like to keep the dang fool stuff cut.
--In our yard tall grass can be a real pain in the neck, because if your not careful you could slip into one of those dang fool holes Jerry Lee dug just about every where.
--And let's not forget the dang fool cats who like to hide in the grass and pop out when you get near. Something Squash seems to think is the greatest thing, because he gets to scare me, and it drives poor Waffles nuts.
--when you think about all those things, you'd think it would make a fella think twice about venturing outside for a stroll. But what can I say I've never been the brightest blue in the box.
--Since the weather has broken a bit Waffles and I have been spending time outside, walking about. And Squash true to his nature has been popping up just about any where he can, especially when he thinks he can scare the two of us.
--It probably wouldn't be so bad but now he's gotten the wing nut gang to join in the fun. As if watching for holes and Squash wasn't enough now we've got to watch for Buddy, Puffy, Oreo, and that dang fool Alien Cat to.
--Let me tell you it almost makes a fella wish for winter......

MIDNIGHT WALKS AGAIN…..
---Well it seems the weather has finally broken a tad, at least for the next 10 days if the forecast is to believed.
--The prospect of being able to go outside without being baked from the outside in is so enticing I'm finding myself having a hard time concentrating.
--But then again that just might be old age peeking in the window. My wife swears I'm getting a tad goofy as the years go by.
--Either way I've already informed Waffles he can plan on a few midnight walks. For some reason he doesn't seem to impressed.....

MISSED ME BY THAT MUCH.....
--Lately it seems that no matter where I go outside that dang fool Squash is waiting for a chance to pop out and scare me.
--Oh he's gotten pretty good at it to. He hides up in the dang fool trees and drops down on me when I pass. He swats me in the but when I try sitting in a lawn chair. Or his favorite is hiding in the tall grass and running out when I pass.
--Waffles has gotten to the point I have to drag the dang fool out on the leash, because Squash has got him so bugged out.
--Today was a pleasant surprise, because when I walked past the pear tree Squash jumped out to soon and landed on the ground instead of me. Of course I let him know I was happy by laughing like a fool. Which means I'll probably pay for tomorrow.
--But I'll just take have to remember today where he just missed me by that much. Maybe things are looking up after all.....

FRIED CHICKEN NIGHT.....
--It's really is a shame that you have to wait for a cool night before you can have fried chicken. But unless you like cooking in a kitchen that twice as hot that's what you have to do.
--Of course if the children had their way we'd probably have fried chicken every night. But to much of a good thing can make that a prospect not worth pursuing. At lest that's what we try to tell them when they start wanting it.
--Now if it would just cool of a tad maybe we could get down to some serious frying.....

CHECKING THE MAIL....
--If it wasn't for the 75ft driveway I image checking the mail could be down right fun, especially on a nice day. The rest of the time it's a bit of a pain in the neck.
--Today happened to be a rather nice day so I ambled of to check the mail. Of course the wing nut gang decided to follow. But that's only because they figured there was a way to have some fun with me.
--Of course when we got close to the road the little darling hung back, I guess they figured out it's not the best place to be.
--On the way back up the house I was going through the mail and found a tiny mouse curled up in between the envelopes.
--Well I jumped and in the process the mail went flying along with the tiny mouse. Needles to say the wing nuts {Squash, Buddy, Puffy ,and Oreo} noticed the mess and came over to check things out.
--When they spotted the mouse it turned into a free for all. I will say one thing they sure put a lot of effort into trying to catch that little fella. It would of been nice if the little whack a doodles would of given me a hand rounding up the dang fool mail, but I guess when your a dang fool cat you do have your priorities.
--By the time I reached the house they showed up empty handed and full of mischief.
-- I will have to say checking the mail has turned into a daily event for those fools. I’m just hoping tomorrow brings no little surprises….

THE RACE....
--When they were first planted the were just tiny little things. Barely 8in high, amazing how much they have grown in such a short time.
--Now of course they stand neck and neck about 4ft feet high. For awhile it a race to see which one would do better.
--They make a nice little setting right in the middle of all the lilacs, especially after the lilacs are done blooming.
--The brightness of the Sharon bushes adds that something extra to make the day seem brighter. Which is a two for in my book......

BATH PARTY.....
--You know there's going to be a bath party when you see a bunch of cats all laying together in a pile.
--Usually it happens just before dark, after the sun has gone down. They seem to gather under the old maple, or the bench next to the Apple tree and lie next to each other in a pile.
--Then while their getting comfortable the all start linking each other.
--At first I guess I thought it was kind of strange because of all the different personalities involved. But when I thought more on it I realized that's what's family about. Even though half the time they seem like they can't stand each other, when it gets down to brass tracks and nails their still family after all.
--I guess there's a lesson in there somewhere......

BIG JOBS HAVE THE WORST BITE.....
--Every once in awhile like silent stalker they are, they sneak up behind you, tap you on the shoulder and whisper,” Remember me?".
--Oh you know the one I'm talking about. That Big job you've been putting off for so long it's almost become a mantra.
--But like the fickle task master that karma is when you've finally reached the end of her patience. Whamo, your hip deep in reality lesson 101. And it's time for the Big job munchies and crunchies.
--Of course it proves to be more than just a pain in the neck, more like a royal soul crusher. But with patience you slowly reach the last hurtle. And mumble to yourself,” Well that was fun."
--And just before you drift of into rocky slumber your pretty sure hear the faint sounds of laughter from somewhere afar. The whisper words hang in the air like the unanswered question that they are,” You might want to check that dang fool list fella for the next Big job. Because I'll be waiting for the next Big bite.".......

IT'S ABOUT TIME.....
--Day turns to night and the bugs come out, starting their shenanigans so I figure it about time to head in the house. Waffles is more than willing, in fact he's been running back and forth to the front door for the last 15min.
--But as I'm getting ready to leave Peek jumps in my lap and seem to want a few pet's. So I figure why not, besides I kind of like the mother hen. And she does manage to keep the peace, especially when there's babies about.
--Of course Waffles is fit to tied, he's had it with being outside . Especially since it's gotten dark. To many boogers out and about I guess.
--While sitting there petting Peek I noticed something grey coming across the yard. At first I thought it was the Grey mother but then I saw the rat tail and realized it was probably that dang fool possum who seems to think he's a cat.
--Well I patted Peek one last time and told I guess it's about I started in. Because if there's one place I didn't want to be was outside when Waffles spotted that dang fool possum. That little whack a doodle was a hand full when there wasn't any booger out and about.

PORCH SURFING .....
---When the dang fool porch gets wet it's slippery. Before during and after it rains it's a mantra I keep repeating to myself so I won't forget.
--Not that it does any good of course, because I usually end up sliding around like a fool at lest once.
--This morning it was poor Waffles who ran out to do his business and slid of the end of the porch into that dang fool picker bush next to the porch.
--He probably won't have been so mad if Squash hadn't there batting at him while he was trying to get out of the picker bush.
--Of course Waffles forgot the porch was slippery, so when he tried to chase Squash across it he slid of the other side next to the play set.
--When he finally got back to the house he was walking like I usually look when crossing the dang fool thing. Using baby steps all the way.
--I guess it goes to show you can teach a old dog a few things after all.....

LADYBUGS ARE BACK....
--Every year I look forward to the lady bug invasion. For some reason it seems we end up with millions of them.
--Of course we always end up with a few in the house and it makes for some fun trying to catch the little darlings and let them go back outside.
--But I figure it's worth it in the end, good luck for them and good vibes for us.
--Oh it would probably be easier to just squash the little things but that's never really appealed to us. When we've even been known to chase those dang fool bee's outside a time or to…..

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED....
--When it comes to pets, I've learned to expect the unexpected. Whether it be 400lb pigs, or a duck with a cranky disposition. Or a dang fool dove who was in love with a cat named Goofy.
--Threw the years we've had our share of whack a doodles, and even today the whack a doodle strain seems to run through the little darlings who hang around the house.
--Even the wildlife that crosses our little slice of heaven. From chatterbox birds to possums who think their cats.
--I guess when it comes to what to expect I usually hang my hat on the any thing goes peg of life.....

IT COMES AROUND EVERY YEAR....
--Like clock work it comes around every year, the day we celebrate our wedding anniversary.
--To say it bring the old memory train a running would be a understatement. It would be more like a runaway train I guess.
--And every year we look at each other with eyes filled with same love and affection.
--I guess it goes to show some trains are special....

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED....
--On the way around the house this morning a funny thing happened. I almost got knocked over by that bunch of whack a doodle I like to call the wing nut gang.
--The little fools came racing around the house and ran right threw my legs . it was just plain dumb luck I didn't end up on my but.
--It seems they were in the middle of a game of you can't catch me. And I was in the way.
--When I finally got back to the house with waffles in tow, I noticed the little fools were running up and down the old maple tree next to the house.
--Sometimes I wish I had a once of the energy Buddy, Squash, Oreo, and Puffy have. But then again maybe not, I've seen what cats do all day. And I don't think it's for me.....

TIME FOR A TRIM....
--You know it's time to trim the grass when cat's disappear when they get to far from the house.
--Not that I mind the disappearing, it's just that I like to keep a eye on the little whack a doodle's, because you never know what the little fools are up to.
--And then there's the whole why did I let this stuff get so high dilemma, as roast in the tall grass trying to get it cut.
--Of course riding the dang fool mower is a bit of a pain, what with all the dang fool craters, from jerry Lee digging. But I suppose it could be worse, at least I don't have to worry about falling off being that I now have a seat belt....

SPRINKLES AND CLOUDS....
--A little sprinkles in the morning and clouds in the afternoon make for a pleasant change from getting baked from sun up to sunset.
--Of course the humidity leaves something to be desired, but hey at lest you can function a little better.
--Even the whack a doodle cats are enjoying the difference. Running around chasing each other like a bunch of school children on the last day of school.
--Waffles isn't to impressed, he'd rather be lying under my wife chair. Waiting for her to go outside so he can follow.
--Myself I'll take my blessings where I can find them. Which is usually what I do. So here to a few more days filled with sprinkles and clouds.....

LITTLE HELPERS.....
--Working outside can be a bit of a pain ,what with all the little helpers running about.
--It really wouldn't be so bad I guess if they tried to restrain themselves a bit. But I guess that's what you can expect with cats and a whack a doodle dog running about.
--When comes to trying to get things accomplished it gets to be time consuming. But I suppose it could be worse, at least the little fools are trying in there own whack a doodle Way......

KITTENS IN A BOX....
--Usually the mother's cat's have a tendency to hide their kittens. Sometimes in the weirdest places, like in the tire around the maple tree, or under the slide of the play set. But if you leave a cardboard box out and they find it every time.
--Which is probably good because finding them isn't really a problem. But it kind of becomes difficult when it rains, because cardboard boxes can get a little wet.
--Of course if the little whack a doodles would just put their kittens somewhere where they wouldn't get wet it would solve a lot of problems.
--But I guess it could be a lot worse at lest they've learned to take care of the little darlings. For quite awhile my wife and I had to take the little darlings in and help them along.....

JUST BEFORE DARK....
--Just before dark the cats who hang around the house all seem to gather around the picnic table under the old maple.
--Some curl up in chairs, and some sit on the porch railing. While others flop across the table.
--It seems that's the place to be to watch the setting sun.
--Of course when it's totally dark it's a free for all out there. Whack a doodle running every where.
--On the nights when Waffles and I go out, it's a battle to keep from tripping over the little fools.....

A NICE REPRIEVE ......
--Seeing the temp pause on the way to the high 90's is a nice reprieve. It gives you a little time to catch up on a few things, and actually feels quite nice.
--Of course rushing around like a fool so you can get as much done as possible before old mother nature goes back to baking your brain pan, is a bit of a pain. But the alternative is not very appealing so rush is the only choice of the day.
--When the day is done and the sun slowly sets today, you realize tomorrow may be hot as blazes but today was a nice reprieve.....

WHO'S THAT SHAKING MY TREE....
--Watching the bee's congregate around the fallen apples under apple tree, I had the bright idea to rake the dang fool things up. I figured it would solve the problem of so many bee's next to where we park the dang fool car.
--Well everything was going fine until I realized that just about the time I got all the dang fool things raked up more were falling down.
--At first I figured the wind was knocking then loose and kept right on racking. Of course when what little breeze we had stopped I got a little suspicious and looked up in the dang fool tree.
--Seeing Squash sitting on a branch linking his paw with a big smile on his dang fool face, came as no surprise. It seems that for some dang fool reason that cat has found a new game and it's called get on my nerves.
--I suppose it could be worse, at least I was getting all the dang fool apples racked up, I just wish I'd known I'd be racking up the whole dang fool tree, I'd have brought a bigger box......

BIRTHDAY WISHES....
--Usually when birthday's roll around I’m the first one to smile because another year has passed and another's on the way. Then of course the fun begins.
--Because not only do I remember the year's that have passed but the night each one of my children's birth crosses the threshold of my minds eye. Along with it the feeling of being witness to a very magical moment, with the feeling of helplessness and utter fear mixed in for good measure.
--Of course it's been a wild ride becoming a parent. Learning all the ins and out's. One I wouldn't change if I could.
--My wife firmly believes it's because I’m a sentimental old fool and that's why I go through I go through this. She's probably right of course.
--Myself I leaning towards the fact that it might just be the whole cake and ice cream thing. Because there nothing like a piece of birthday cake with a glob of ice cream to make that first cup of coffee go down even better....

EDGE OF THE ROAD....
--Normally when it comes to the edge of the road I try to look away. It saddens me to no end to see all the critters scattered about, because people are in such a dang fool hurry and can't figure out how to slow down . And give the little darlings a chance.
--This morning when I went down to the end of the driveway to move the garbage containers. I happened to notice a big old groundhog peaking at me on the other side of the road.
--I didn't think much of it until I know noticed the big old fellow dart across the road. he stopped short just before our front yard and then ran down along the edge of the road.
--I don't know why the little fellow stopped and ran down the road. But I do know it was funny to watch . It kind was kind of nice to see the old fellow make it instead of being splattered all over the dang fool place.....

YARD SALE WATCHER'S.....
--Every year when we get ready to set up for a yard sale Squash, Buddy, Puffy, and Oreo, start hanging around keeping a eye on things.
--Of course they all have their special spots. Squash is usually up in the apple tree, Buddy, Puffy, and Oreo, hang around on the fringes of things.
--Now if I could convince waffles that people coming in the yard is a good thing. Things would be going good. For some reason I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. He still goes what a doodle crazy when the dang fool garbage man comes.
--I guess it could be worse I could have the children hanging out with the dang fool cats, but then in order for that to happen the electric would have to go out.....

BLUEBERRY WATCHING....
--One of my favorite thing's is watching sunrise over my blue berry bushes. Weeding the little darling's is a pain in the neck because getting down there and back up is kind of hard. But like I said it's well worth it in the end.
--My wife of course thinks I’m goofy but hey after all these years she's king of gotten used to my shenanigans.....

THE LITTLE THINGS....
--Sometimes it’s the little things that have the most impact on a day. Either good or bad it seems they seem to be the little darling's that'll swing the dang fool pendulum just right . and of you go.
--Now don't get me wrong the big thing's are a pain. It just seam’s nine times out of ten it's those dang fool little things that trip you up every time.
--My wife of course thinks I’m goofy when I start ranting about little things. But over the years she's learned to let it go with a smile and a few nods I guess.....

BLOOMING BUSHES AND BOUNCING BUMBLE BEES....
--After a good rain it's nice to see the flowers that seem to pop up out of nowhere.
--Of course the dang fool bumble bees kind of keep you from getting to close. But I guess they have a job to do before the dang fool heat kills the blossoms.
--All in all it's kind of nice to watch the whole picture. It makes the day a little brighter, and hey any time you get to watch a bunch of bumble bees doing there thing is kind of cool.
--Now if a few Butterflies would stop by the day would be complete....

WAFFLES AND THE LAUGHING CHILDREN.......
--For some reason it doesn't take much to spook poor little waffles. Sometimes a leaf blowing across the yard has been known to get his dander up.
--The other night we were sitting out under the maple tree, watching the star’s, and just having a good old quiet time of it. When we heard what sounded like children laughing. As soon as waffles heard it he started growing and getting excited.
--At first I figured it may have been the neighbors children. But the time was like somewhere around 3am. And it was only a couple of seconds long.
--Well every thing went quiet again, and we went back to watching the star's.
--About 10,min later we heard it again. I figured it was time to go back in the house, because sitting outside with a over active imagination while hearing strange sounds is not a good time.
--On the way back in the house I noticed the rocking house my wife had picked for the grandchildren rocking black and forth, and the dang fool cat squash was sitting on it smiling like a fool. Especially when the dang fool thing started laughing. It was then that I remembered every time the dang fool rocked you would hear laughing children. It was one of the reason my wife had to buy the dang fool thing. She thought it was cute.
--Waffles started growling at the dang fool cat and was going to chase him but remembered it was dark out there so he stopped.
--Well we went back in side, and that was that. No more watching stars for us for awhile. To much stress on that over active imagination ......

BROWNIE THE BOB TAILED MYSTERY.....
--Of all the cat's running around the house and of course hanging around outside, Brownie is a mystery.
--Now don't get me wrong he's a good natured fella, and seems to get along with everyone, myself included.
--What he does with himself in between is where the mystery is.
--OH you see him hanging around but he never seems to be doing much of anything, except hanging around.
--I guess one of these days I'll catch the little fool doing something, and the mystery will be solved. In the mean time I guess will just have to enjoy each other's company and bide our time.....

SPIDER'S AND SNAKES......
--When it comes to spiders and snakes I try to keep my distance. Usually this works just fine.
--Once in awhile our paths cross and it gets a little hairy, but like I said usually we go our separate ways and everything is fine.
--The other day I was mowing the extra tall grass in the backyard and noticed a lot of big whack a doodle sized spiders just hanging from the tall grass as I passed. I couldn't help thinking this sure would be a bad time for the dang fool mower to quit.
--For some reason after all these years you'd think I'd learn not to temp fate. Apparently this old pink hat wearing fool has a ways to go yet. Because no sooner had the thought crossed my mind , then the dang fool mower coughed and quit.
--Let me tell you, You don't realize how big your backyard is until your walking through tall grass filled with big old whack a doodle sized spiders.
--Of course going back with a dang fool toolbox wasn't much fun either. Let alone spending a half hour getting the dang fool thing running again.
--Now a smarter fella probably would have called it a day right there. But I didn't I finished the dang fool mowing, of course keeping a eye on those spiders and praying I didn't run into any dang fool snakes along the way.....

ALIEN CAT'S PEOPLE AQUARIUM....
--Every night like clock work alien cat jumps up on top of the air-conditioner, in the kitchen and stares in the window.
--Now the first few times it was a little unnerving, but after awhile we kind of got used to it and even expected him at a certain time.
--At first it drove me up the wall trying to figure out just the dang fool cat was up to.

WALKING IN THE RAIN......
--Standing out in the rain has never been on my top ten list of things to do. I guess I've never been to fond of rain in general.
--For some reason after the last month or so of being baked to a crisp, every time it's rained lately I've had a over powering urge to go for a walk.
--Of course my wife's been trying to get me out in the dang fool stuff for years. It's only been since the summer bake a thong that I've been willing.
--Maybe it’s from being backed 24/7 for the last 2 months, or I'm just getting tired of being hot. But when it starts raining out I go.
--I guess it just goes to show you can teach a old pink hat wearing fool new tricks.....

THUNDER AND LIGHTING BLUES....
--I kind of like thunder and lighting storms, it seems to be the only time every one comes a little closer together. Of course having the power go out, helps to.
--We usually have a quiet night of it ,watching a old Hallmark movie on the Laptop waiting for the power.
--When the power comes back on or the storm moves off every one runs back to their do dad's, and my wife and I finish the night and the movies.
--But it's the closeness that counts the most and that's what I like about thunder and lighting storms I guess…

SQUASH AND THE NINJA GRASSHOPPER....
--It seems Squash had a problem with a grasshopper this morning. For some reason the dang fool thing landed on Squashes head.
--Squash did a complete summer sault in the air but the little fella hung on.
--Squash then decided to run up the maple tree. Figuring that's where he usually loses Buddy and the rest of the gang so it would probably work on the dang fool grasshopper.
--Much to his dismay the dang fool grasshopper hung on.
--About this time Squashes Shenanigan’s, attracted Puffy attention. Because he ran up the tree to see what in Sam Hills poor Squash was up to.
--Then ended up forgetting about the grasshopper and started chasing each other.
--When they finally made it back down to the ground I noticed the grasshopper was sitting on a low hanging branch watching the two whack a doodle chase each other.
--I guess it just goes to show you should be careful who you pick on because some day it just might happen to you......

THE RETURN OF MR TOAD....
--Waffles had a bit surprise this morning when he followed me out to feed the whack a doodle cats. His old buddy Mr. Toad was sitting under the old maple tree waiting for him.
--I don't know who was more surprised Waffles or Mr. Toad. Waffles took one look at Mr. Toad and started Scooby-Dooing back to the porch.
--Of course Mr. Toad don't help much because he started following poor old Waffles.
--When Waffles finally made it back to the porch he made sure to let Mr. Toad know just how much he missed him by backing a whack a doodle howdy.
--Mr. Toad was pretty cool about the whole thing he just starred at Waffles with his old Toad stare.
--When I let Waffles in I asked him if it was nice seeing his old pal he just growled at me as he ran in the house.
--I guess catching up with his old friend took a lot out of him because he curled up in his bed and went to sleep.....

GOOD AFTERNOON CHATTERBOX.....
--Sitting at the table looking out the window at the yard full of whack a doodles sprawled out just about every where there's a little bit of shade, I couldn't help but wonder where the Sam Hill morning flinch was.
--Usually the little fool shows up like clock work every morning without fail. It's been a few days and I guess I missed the little fella.
--It was about this time I noticed something Grey fluttering in front of the window. When I looked it was morning flinch hanging on the frame chattering away.
--My wife just shook her head I guess she's grown accustomed to whack a doodle hanging round our place.
--Well not wanting to waste the opportunity for a good afternoon howdy, I went out and chatted with morning flinch before he flew away.
--I guess it just to show blessing comes from all sorts of places we just have to keep our eye's open.....

WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE YOU EAT.....
--Wash your hands before you eat used to be a mantra around our house when the children were little. Not so much now of course, being that they've grown up a tad.
--Like all things you repeat long enough some times you find yourself saying then again and again. Even when it's kind of redundant.
---The other day I happened to glance over at poor Gandolf, and low and behold he was washing his paws, in his water before he started eating.
--I guess it goes to show even when you think cats are not listening sometimes they are.....

IN THE SHADOW OF THE OLD MAPLE.....
--The old maple next to the house casts a large shadow, it's one of the nice things about having it so close you don't have to go very far to look for a piece of shade.
--Oh that's not to say we haven't had our share of ups and down's. Low hanging branches with a habit of knocking my hat, glasses, and a few times myself down for the count. But overall I'd have to say it's nice to have a place to sit in the shade without having to hobble a ways to find it.
--The other day my wife noticed a tiny sapling growing next to the old maple, and figured it might be nice to give the little fella a chance by replanting it where it would get more light.
--It took awhile but she finally found a spot and planted the little fella. And the prospect of another piece of shade is a plus I must say.
--Of course it may take awhile unless mother nature let's us have a little rain before long. But I imagine we won't have to wait much longer......

WAFFLES AND THE DUST BUNNY......
--It used to be when I swept the floor all I had to worry about was a dang fool cat going whack a doodle crazy and scattering my dirt all over the dang place.
--Now it seems waffles has decided to join the dang fool fun and games.
--Of course today went a little differently. When the dang fool scattered my dirt he must of got a whiff of a dust bunny, because he spent the next 10 min sneezing like crazy.
--It didn't make much of a impact because when we swept up after dinner he was right back to his old games again.
--I guess there's a lesson in there somewhere.....

LEAPFROGGING FLINCH'S.....
--I like finch’s, because their small have tons of energy and never seem to rest for more than a second.
--After all these years we finally have a few of the little darlings hanging around our house.
--The other day I noticed a couple playing leapfrog on the wire waffles used to get hooked up on. They kept the game up until they reached the end of the wire and then started back up. The whole game went on for about a half hour and then the flew off.
--It was just the right pickup I needed for a day that seemed to doomed to a downward spiral. I guess it just goes to show blessing’s come in all shapes and sizes, and from many different places. All we need to do is keep our eye's open......

HOT NIGHT COLD DINNER.....
--For some reason when it's hot as blazes out cold sandwiches make a great dinner selection.
--In our house BLT'S, and sub's and the main thing we go for on those hot night's when heating up the kitchen just doesn't seem right.
--Of course the children just love the whole thing and my wife likes it to because she doesn't have to whip up something for dinner.
--Myself I just like to get it all done quick and easy , and sub's and sandwiches sure fits that bill.....

AFTER THE STORM....
--After the storm, the air is filled with enough moisture it makes you feel like your walking through syrup.
--I suppose it could be worse, at least every thing got a good refreshing drink. Already you see the glow returning to just about every thing. Even the dang fool cats seem perked up a tad. And waffles found plenty of Mud to roll around in this morning.
--Of course spending the morning mopping the kitchen, was a bit of a pain. But hey it's been so long it was almost kind of fun.....

MUDDY WATER FALLS....
--The old muddy water falls is just a trickle now and even that seems to shrink with each passing day. The heat has taken it's toll on a lot of thing.
--From grass turning brown to leaves crackling on the branch.
--It's been along summer, and the weed covered lawns prove a little rain goes along way's, and sure as Sam Hill would be appreciated if it showed up soon.
--Of course the heat is nice it takes the long winter's chill out of the old bones.
--But I suppose it could be worse, at least this year summer arrived. Last year about this time we were knee deep in rain soaked lawns and trying to keep the dang fool tree's from falling over.....

PEEK A BOO KITTY ....
--While sitting under the maple tree enjoying the day noticed something kept bumping my hat.
--At first I thought it was a bug and shooed it away. When it happened again I looked up to find that dang fool Squash sitting on the branch above my head getting ready to bat my hat again.
--When he noticed me looking he tried to act Coy and started linking his paw. Of course it probably would have worked better if the dang fool wasn't grinning, at the time.
--Well it only took me a minute to realize that this wasn't going to end until he got bored, so I went back into the house. When my wife asked what was up, I told her the dang fool cat was trying to play peek a boo with me and I wasn't in the mood. She just smiled and giggled.......

GRASSHOPPER WHO CAME IN FROM THE HEAT.....
--On my morning walk this morning I noticed a lot of tiny grasshopper hopping about.
--Of course Waffles was waiting patiently on the porch for me to get the walk out of my system. But that was all right because I had lot's of company, Puffy , Squash, Buddy and Oreo decided to follow me.
--They having a ball trying to catch the tiny grasshoppers, and I was enjoying the company.
--When we got back to the house they went there way and I went into the house.
--It wasn't until later when I was sitting at the kitchen table that I realized I'd picked up a hitchhiker. A grasshopper crawled out of my pocket and hopped on the table.
--I let the little fellow hang out for a few minutes and then had to let him out. Apparently a grasshopper is not a house pet according to my wife and belongs outside. I did tell him I'd see him tomorrow as he went hopping along. Sort of makes today kind of special if you ask me......

A MAPLE TREE FULL OF FLINCH'S.......
--The other day a flock of FLINCH'S landed in the middle of the front yard. They bounced around for a bit and flew of to land in the backyard.
--Now Puffy, Squash, Buddy, and Oreo, saw this and decided to investigate because I guess their just naturally enjoy being nosy. About the time they headed of to the backyard the dang fool FLINCH'S took of and landed in the maple tree.
--Puffy, Squash, Buddy, and Oreo just stared and then flew up into the dang fool maple.
--The result of course was the FLINCH'S flew of and the dang fool cat's spent about a hour chasing each other up and down the maple tree.
--When it was over and done they all took a nap under the maple.
--As I walk back into the house I couldn't help but shake my head. What a unchanged of whack a doodle's.......

DRIVEWAY FIREWORKS.....
--It seems that best view for watching fireworks is in our driveway .At lest that's what we have found out. Stumbling around in the dark because of a porch light with a sense of humor leaves something to be desired.
--Of course why shouldn't the driveway be a nice place to watch fireworks, over the years it’s produced enough fireworks in it own right . It's only fair it should provide us with a view to watch few......

WALTZING ALONG....
--Waltzing along in the backyard I happened upon Squash, Buddy, and Puffy in sort of a circle staring down at the ground.
--Being around cats for so long my curiosity got the better of me and I had to find out what in Sam Hills they were up to. I ambled over and found they had trapped a little mole, and we're waiting for the thing to try and get away.
--Of course they looked at me when I came over, with worried looks, maybe they were afraid I take their prize.
--It was at this time that the little fella made a black for it, because when they looked back he was gone.
--Well I left them to there fun, and finished my walk, saying a silent prayer for the little mole. But I don't think he had much to worry about those three whack a doodle looked like they had lost interest and we're now chasing each other across the yard......

GANDOLF WAFFLES AND THE MOUSE....
--It seems there's a running battle going on in our house, between Gandolf, Waffles and a dang fool mouse.
--Gandolf, being a cat wants the dang fool mouse real bad. And probably wouldn't have a problem catching the dang fool thing except he's chosen to come out behind Waffles food dish. Which probably wouldn't be a problem except Waffles won't let Gandolf near his dang fool dish because he's afraid he's going to eat his food.
--Of course Waffles can see the dang fool mouse and has even tried to catch him. But the mouse is just to quick for the little whack a doodle.
--Now I've tried to explain to both of them if they would work together they could get rid of the mouse, but it's kind of like talking two children fighting over the same dang fool toy. You can talk till your blue in the face, but your not going to get anywhere unless somebody gives little.
--So every day Gandolf tries to catch the dang fool mouse and of course Waffles goes whack a doodle crazy, and the mouse runs of smiling I imagine. Sort of makes you wonder if there's a lesson in there somewhere......

LITTLE MR. PLOP AND DROP.....
-Squash is a weird little cat, when the dang fool gets tired to just plops down and takes a nap.
--Lately the places I've found the little fool sleeping have given me a few head scratches, but it's to Be expected I guess when dealing with whack a doodles.
--Now if I can just figure out how to keep from tripping over the little nut I'll be doing something.....

DRIVEWAY CAT....
--Every time we come home from being out and about we have to wait for driveway cat to move the Sam Hill out of the way so we can park.
--We have a pretty good sized yard, with plenty of places to plop down for a nap. But for the life of me I can't understand why that dang fool only seems to want to sleep in the driveway.
--It probably wouldn't be so bad but when get home all the dang fool does is look at us as we sit there honking, and go back to sleep. So of course I have to get out and chase the dang fool out of the way.
--I suppose it could be worse, at least the little fool finds some place else to sleep in the winter......

SOAKING UP THE HEAT......
-My wife thinks I'm a tad Goofy when I sit outside in the heat when I could be sitting inside in a/c cooled house.
--Of course there's a reason I prefer to sit outside. the dang fool house is to dang cold. Five minutes after the dang fool a/c starts I’m looking for my long johns.
--So I sit outside and try to soak up as much of this heat as I can . Because when winter sets in it'll be back to wearing long John's and trying to stay warm. And course start counting the days till spring….

I GUESS I SHOULD OF CHECKED THAT....
--It seems the older I get more and more thing are slipping by me. I'm sure it's just a stage.
--The other night we blew a fuse. Normally I'd just go out and flip the little fool and we'd be good to go.
--This time it didn't look like any thing blew so I figured we lost the power. Which with it being so hot we have had happen before.
--Needless to say nobody was happy about the prospect of being without power. There would be no do dad's to play and a/c of course.
--While sitting outside when it was getting dark my wife noticed that both our neighbors had power. she looked at me with that look and smiled and said,” Are you sure you checked the dang fool switch?"
--Well not wanting to appear to much the fool I went back in and checked the dang fool thing. Amazingly after a couple of clicks the dang fool power came back on.
--To say they were happy would be a understatement. It wasn't until they thought about it that they became a little upset.
--I guess it goes to show looks can be deceiving sometimes. And when in doubt click the dang fool breaker ........

THE PUZZLE HOUSE....
--I've never been to fond of puzzles. In fact you could say I'd go out of my way to stay as far as I could from the dang fool thing's.
--I guess it just goes to show that the dang fool universe has a sense of humor. and don't mind showing it from time to time.
--When we moved in to the little house we were all so happy. Of course until we found out the place was puzzle house.
--To be honest I'm amazed the dang fool place has remained standing this long.
--None of the windows are the same size . the flour are all uneven . and the list goes on.
--One of the good thing’s I have learned to handle a puzzle of course. Just rearranging the furniture is a nightmare.
--But it does have it’s bright side it may be small but it is cozy as all get out….

THE POOR-MAN'S SHISHKABOBS.....
--The funny thing is with the prices the way they are these days a toothpick has become the poor man's shishkabob ,stick. which is probably about right especially since every thing under the sun has shrunk in size.
--It's gotten to the point that from week to week the sizes are shrinking so much your getting less than what you were getting the week before.
--At first I thought it was just me until I was making cheese and crackers, for my wife one night. I'd just finished the opened box and opened the new one. When I had them all spread out the new boxes crackers, were just a tad smaller. Checking the boxes I found out they were the same size but the new one was missing 3oz.
--I know somebody somewhere must think people won't notice as long as the price doesn't jump to much. But maybe it's just me but this seems a little off if you ask me. But what in the Sam Hill do I know I'm just a old pink hat wearing fool who it seems not only has to keep eye on the dang fool prices but the dang fool sizes to.
--I suppose it could be worse at lest they don't charge us for the air we breathe while we're shopping. But knowing them I'm pretty sure there's a department working on just that....

MAYBE IT'S JUST ME....
--Maybe it's just me but it seems sometimes when you lest expect it those dang fool pets will do something really weird that will just make your day.
--I know waffles can usually tell when my days not going to good, because he usually comes over and sits in front of my chair and stares at me with those sad eyes. Which for some reason will bring a smile to my face, and good petting for him.
--The cats who hang round the house, are always up to something which you can't but smile about.
--And don't get me started on the various birds, and creepy crawlies that plague our little home of whack a doodleness,. there isn't a day that goes by where something isn't bringing a smile or two.

WHAT A CRICKET ......
--Living at whack a doodle acres I've learned to get used to weird thing's.
--From whack a doodle cats, to birds who follow me around catering away and various other wildlife with wacky personalities.
--So it was no surprise when I went outside the other day to find a cricket who stood a good 5 inches high. And of course it didn't really seem to strange when the dang fool thing followed me around the yard.
--Of course when he rounded up a few of his friends I figured it was time to go back in. It’s kind of hard to walk with a cane when dang fool crickets keep flying into you.......

GARBAGE CAN, POSSUM...
-Over the years, I have gotten used to things going bump in the night. From runaway pigs, to dogs howling at the dang fool moon. From cats trying to claw their way through a/c molding, to birds peeking at the window at night.
--As a rule I try not to spend much time running around in the dang fool yard after dark, because of all the holes gopher dog has dug. And of course, the fact I am to dang old to be falling into them.
--I figured I would be save running the garbage out to the can next to porch. I mean how much trouble could I get into.
--Little did I know the universe was listening. When I got outside, I found a big old possum on top of the dang fool garbage can. And no amount of coasting from me seemed to want to make him move.
--So rather than stand there and argue with the dang fool I just brought the dang garbage back in the house. When my wife asked why I brought the garbage, back in I told her what happened. I was not going to wait for some dang fool possum. Especially when the porch light has a habit of online staying on for only a few seconds at a time.

FALLING APPLES.....
--I don't mind mowing, except around the dang fool fruit trees. No matter how careful you are you can usually count on getting hit on the head by falling fruit.
--The other day when I went out to mow I grabbed one of the kids old plastic helmets and put the dang fool thing on. I figured there no more raps on the head.
--My wife just looked at me and shook her head. I guess after all these years nothing really surprises her any more.
--I was doing really good until the dang fool pear trees low hanging branch knocked the dang fool helmet of. Then low and behold if I didn't get knocked in the head by a falling pear.
--When I told my wife about the whole thing and how the dang fool fruit trees were plotting against me. And the whole yard was cursed. She just looked at me and said,” I’m sure that's what it was."

LITTLE BITS OF INSPIRATION....
--Inspiration comes in the most unlike places. Myself I've found it just about anywhere from morning flinch, to a fat bumblebee bouncing of my head.
--Of course my wife thinks I'm tad goofy when I mention a few of my tales.
--But hey after all these years she's kind of kind of gotten used to it…..

LEFT OVER NIGHT....
--Left over night is fun because you can get the icebox cleaned out, and the freezer to. So it's a two-four in my book. And if there's one thing I like it's doing one thing and accomplishing two thing's in the process.
--The only downside to left over night is sometimes it's a buffet of this and that which usually doesn't sit to we'll with the children.
--But they quickly come around when they see the tidbits from meals that they liked.....

EARLY MORNING MIX UP....
--Morning's are nice that little bit of quiet before the whole house wakes up and the day begins.
--Of course when the furry little ones are running about there really isn't much quiet time . but I guess that's why we have the little furry bugs running around. At least that's what I tell myself when I'm stumbling around in the we hours trying to make coffee.
--I do have to give them credit they have gotten better over the years . Or I've gotten more tolerant in my old age.....

MORNING FLINCH'S LITTLE FRIEND....
--It really was not much of a surprise to find morning flinch chattering away in the bush next to the porch. What was surprising was he seemed to have brought a few friends with him this time.
--Not only was he chattering away but there were 3 little ones going crazy along side him this morning.
--Not wanting to waste a good morning howdy. I spent a few moments with the little darlings making sure they all got a good morning howdy in return.
--The episode reminded me how sometimes it's the little things that can turn a day around. that’s if were looking of course.....

WHO WOULD OF THOUGHT....
--When we planted the dang fool things everyone was pretty happy even though it was a lot of work. Mostly I guess because every one likes grapes, so much.
--Of course when the dang fool things began to grow out and every one found out the little darling has seeds it became a very different story.
--Now don't get me wrong they seemed fine to me, and my wife. The children not so much. I guess it was to much work spitting the dang fool seeds out.
--But then the best things in life usually require a little bit of work. at least that's what I heard......

WHOLE LOT OF FUN....
--For some reason I find cleaning fun. I know go figure right. But it's true.
--Oh don't get me wrong I complain the whole time, and every one runs for cover. Because quite frankly I just don't know when to quit. And usually end up rearranging the furniture to boot.
--Now my wife doesn't seem to mind to much, but it kind of puts a damper on her cleaning and furniture moving.
--But in our house you really to move the furniture a lot to keep up with the dang fool dust bunnies . so there's always plenty to do.
--And after its all done of course it feels pretty darn. I guess there's a lesson in there some place.....

THE ORANGE BREASTED CHATTERBOX....
--Of all the buddies morning flinch has brought along the orange breasted chatter box is a delight.
--No matter where I sit in the dang fool yard the little darling always seems to find me. and carry on a running commentary about his day.
--My wife of course just nods her head as she listens about my tales of the little pest. I’m pretty sure she's humoring me but I guess it's to be expected after all these years.....

WHAT'S UP ....
--When you look at the state of things you can't help but wonder what in Sam Hills up with the world.
--It's almost as if common sense is a endangered whisper in the wind . Some of the Shenanigans make you what in Sam Hill the world's coming to.
--I know it takes all kinds but still it's a lot to swallow.
--I suppose it could be worse, at least the sun still comes up and goes down on schedule.....

THE WONDERING DAY'S ......
--Sometimes don't ask me why but once in awhile you have one of those days when you just can't seem to focus on a dang fool thing.
--Unfortunately they can really be a pain in the neck. Myself I try to go with the flow and work really hard on the little things so they don't trip my dang fool self up down the line.
--Fortunately they don't happen to often, and only seem to last a little while.
--I guess every body needs a break once in awhile...
